Hotel RL Baltimore Inner Harbor by Red Lion

Wow! We were hesitant going to Baltimore, but from the time we stepped in the doors - We felt at home. Amazing staff, the room was truly phenomenal - we usually pay much more for the same type of room. Only thing that could make it better would be closer to the harbor.

"Great location/views, could be better"
The hotel was great. Mattress was uncomfortable and could be improved. Pool deck staff were not very friendly and all of the pool chairs were reserved by guests that were not even at the pool. So lots of empty chairs, but you could not use any. Pool bar staff also unfriendly. Bar closed right when fireworks started on the 4th. Bar staff then insisted that you stand at the end of the bar to close your tab out of site of the firework display. This was the main reason why we stayed at the hotel. They then turned on the lights in the middle of the fireworks show. Simply put, there's not much consideration for the guest. Not worth the $500+ per night IMO.

Kimpton Hotel Monaco Baltimore Inner Harbor

2 North Charles Street, Baltimore - Map
"Hard To Beat"
I stayed at the Kimpton Monaco in Baltimore in mid July 2017 and selected it for two reasons: 1) the price was surprisingly very competitive, and 2) I have stayed in kimpton Hotels before (DC, Seattle) and been very happy. This particular Kimpton had a very large room, surprising for a Kimpton, and a very comfortable King bed. It had a mini bar and the prices were very reasonable. The bathroom was a pleasure, large with excellent water pressure. The towels were also a reasonable size. One negative was that the room does not come with a coffee maker but one is supplied on request. Unfortunately, the housekeepers who clean the rooms do not provide additional k-cups or creamer cups and if you ask them, they do not relay the message to whoever does restock the coffee-maker. The hotel is well located as far as I was concerned in an area called Inner Harbor. You can walk to Camden Yards and the Aquarium and other tourist attractions. There is an icemachine on every floor.

"Visit history in a modern way!"
There aren't many hotels in the Mt Vernon area. That said, this one totally fits the city. It is modern yet decorated with period furniture. The host is your concierge and will show you the free bus transit around the city which is less than two blocks away Thr first Washington monument is in a wonderful park nearby. Visit the free and opulent Walters Museum. Very nice continental breakfast. Parking is limited but you are in the middle of a city.

"Stay was good overall. "
Having the separate room to hang out in while the kids slept was wonderful. The front staff was accommodating and very nice. The bathroom needs updating, but the room was clean. The problem was with the valet parking attendants. The company the hotel uses is inefficient and the worst part of the trip.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
