We visited here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was very comfortable and reception staff very welcoming and helpful. The location was brilliant being right next to the famous Bryggen on the harbour, close to the fortress and two of Bergen's many museums. It was easy to get to as it is the last stop on the flybus to/from the airport which stops right outside. Most of Bergen's main attractions are within easy walking distance.
We tried out the 26 North restaurant in the hotel on the first night, the food was delicious, all sourced locally, particularly recommend the mini venison burgers with goats cheese and also the scallops. The staff in the restaurant were lovely. A bit pricey but that is normal for Norway!
We took advantage of the buffet breakfast each day, the choice of food was extensive and included some Norwegian specialities including brown cheese, smoked fish and pickled herring as well as more normal choices. Staff were all friendly.
A great place to stay for a special occasion.

Was a bit put off with entry lobby when I first entered. Not much charm. Desk clerks did speak and understand English. Was not able to check in until 2:00pm. The desk clerk gave us a key and told us we could leave our bags in a closet was on the lower floor. I had requested a room with a balcony or at least windows that opened and was told there were no balconies. We were given a corner room on the 3rd floor which faced a very busy street (lots of traffic noise but also lots of light, windows that opened, and view of the nearby hills... a good trade-off for me). The breakfast buffet had tons of options - eggs, all sorts of fish, meats, cheeses, breads, muffins, cereals, fruits, juices, coffee, teas. It seemed like plenty of seating to us (I'd seen some negative comments on this but, even though it was very busy, there was plenty of tables.) The hotel has two bikes that you can use for free. While Bergen is not the bike-friendly city that Copenhagen is, there are some bike paths available. You can ask for bike helmets at the front desk although it didn't look like many people there wear them. Bathroom was big enough. Shower - no tub. Plenty of hot water. Location is very central. We took a taxi from the cruise ship to hotel as we had luggage but could have walked if we didn't have the bags. Bus to airport -1 block walk away. EVERYTHING is expensive in Norway (not that I ate one but the Big Mac meal deal is over $10!) so this is probably good value for area.

This is definitely a budget hotel where they charge for new clean towels and housekeeping. The location is not very central, it's a 30 min walk to downtown.
I stayed at Magic Hotel for 4 nights and had booked this hotel before any reviews. I wish I could have read the reviews before I booked! The hotel & restaurant is not fully completed yet. As such, breakfast was ham sandwich, yogurt, apple, juice and cake. This got pretty boring after day 2.
The young lady who checked me in was in training and was nice but not competent. We tried for an early check-in after travelling all day and was told to come back several hours later. For a hotel that is not fully booked, I don't know how our early check-in request could not be accommodated. When we finally checked in, it was in the smallest room at the end of the hall with no bench. We took a look at the other hotel rooms on our floor and they were bigger with a long bench.

Great location, the cheapest but still livable condition at a great location.
Rooms are very clean, newly renovated. Self check in never worked with expedia's reservation number, need staff to help.

We picked this hotel because it was close to the train station. However, there are no restaurants except Burger King near and no sights. Next time I'd stay nearer the fish market or Bryggen and take a taxi to the train station.

Nearest airport bus stop was about 5-10 minutes walk, but note that the bus stops at several other places on the way and even with no traffic (4:05 a.m. departure) the ride took about 40 minutes. Hotel provides a basic breakfast box with one ham & cheese sandwich and a small bottle of orange juice per person, and this box can be collected from the front desk for an early departure.

I spent one night in Bergen while doing Norway In A Nutshell, and booked the hotel through Expedia as it was unavailable through the tour company. I spent a month traveling across four countries, and this is my favourite hotel of the whole trip! Great location, beautiful rooms, and wonderful staff!! I was able to walk to the central station in about 15 minutes, and it's close to plent of sights, restaurants, and bus routes. I can not recommend this hotel enough!

This hotel was perfect for what I needed. It was very secure, even with no reception. So close, within walking distance, to everything that might be required. I loved the fact that I had a kitchenette, which meant that I could have a lazy lie in and not need to get up and dressed to have breakfast, or come back at the end date of a day and not need to worry about going out for dinner.
The staff were great at answering any questions via email. I never tried to phone them, so can't comment on that. I would definitely go back when I go to Bergen next.

With about 250,000 residents, Bergen is Norway's second-largest city. It is also home to one of Europe's largest ports and is a popular port-of-call with visitors on cruise ships who flock to Norway to see the country's famous fjords. In addition to a bustling city centre with interesting shops and architecture, Bergen is also home to the country's largest mall, Lagune Storsenter.
