We were able to walk to eat, breakfast, dinner and dessert. Walking distance to La Jolla little beaches which were nice. The only thing I'd would say we disliked was our room was by the cleaning crews storage so in the mornings while they were getting ready it was a little loud, and the shower pressure wasn't to good and temp would change a little. But over all it was a great hotel.

Right on the beach. Grocery and lots of good food choices nearby. Can have some hustle and bustle noise on the rooms that face the 24hr public parking side where public restrooms are located. We are right on the boardwalk therefore some of this is expected. Overall had a good experience.

The hotel location is excellent, it's just a few minutes away from UCSD, where my son's school, the aesthetics of the hotel is really nice and inviting, the room is clean and bed is comfortable, but the staff, particularly in the front desk, is not very helpful and accommodating. We arrived early in the hotel and we know that the check-in time is 4 o'clock p.m., but I was hoping that we can get into a room at least an hour early, so we can rest a little bit before we attend another graduation ceremony at 6:30, I keep asking the front desk person if they have an available room, but they keep saying that if a room is ready they will call us on my cell phone, yet I see people checking in and getting a room right away, the front desk person did not even call me after I checked every half an hour, and when I finally checked at 4:05, they said the room is ready. It is very frustrating and disappointing to have this kind of experience, specially on a long and hot day.

I was looking for a spot close to the beach for a weekend getaway; I found PB Surf and after seeing the good reviews, decided to give it a go. I had seen the comments about tight parking but was unprepared for what that really meant, having forgotten how it is in a beach town. However, the staff told me that there was much more parking about a block away at their sister location, which was perfect since we were needing two parking spots. The room was nicely appointed. I would have liked it a bit more if there were blackout curtains as it was very bright in there, both day and night, since there were only shutters at the windows. Also, the rooms are quite thin. I don't know if the people we heard all night were next door or beneath us (we were in a king suite on the second floor), but their every hour on the hour antics would not be appropriate for a family with children.

I have to balance my expectations with the cost of the room. Excellent location, small room for the price, limited and crowded parking, pool seemed popular (I did not use it), lobby/breakfast room way too small, staff was not too knowledgeable but vary helpful, poor choices on TV, nice bathroom and very nice shower, recently remodeled but some things were left out such as wooden furniture was worn, garbage and maid carts sitting out in the parking lot in the sun was disappointing.

During warm weather, crowds pack the waters off Mission Beach and Pacific Beach, two of the most popular stretches of San Diego sand. These laidback locales are known to host the occasional farmer’s market or arts festival. Mission Boulevard connects both beaches and leads north to La Jolla.
