"Nice hotel, nice location- shame about the views!"
The hotel itself was beautiful: traditional furniture and fixtures in the main lobby and seating area however the service wasn't spectacular and the view from our room was not a 'garden view' as promised.
When checking in, the receptionist took the wrong amount of money and did not give us any information about breakfast or check in times which was disappointing.
The room was nice, except it was quite dusty in places and the view which stated on the website as being one of the garden, was actually of bushes and trees approximately 4m away and we couldn't see any of the garden. At approximately £160 a night I would expect a better view. The classic room which would have been cheaper had the only difference of a double bed and as I paid for an executive room I assumed the view would be better which was a shame.

We had a one night stay at this lovely hotel. We stayed in the court yard and our room was a nice size, everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The chocolates left on the side and the shortbread with the tea and coffee were both a nice touch. The place was really quiet and had lovely grounds to wander around. Staff throughout the hotel couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly, a real credit! The only downside was the breakfast, I ordered eggs Benedict and my eggs were rock hard and the bagel they were served on was burnt. We got down there just after 9am and by that time there wasn't a lot left on the continental section, we also waited a long time for tea and coffee. Apart from that small issue we had a lovely stay.

Have stayed a few times and the room has been fine. On this occasion room was hot, had a bad smell and the bathroom did not seem properly cleaned. Pity.
The bar area is ok. Friendly staff and different beers on tap.
I'll use again but not in that room.

"Beautiful gardens. Good meal but very expensive. "
Restaurant expensive. One course plus 1 glass wine (two people) cost £50 +. Lovely food. Good breakfast with almost everything.
No lift we had 24 steps to our room, but 44 if on top floor of the mansion house, so check this before you book.

Had a lovely stop off on a long trip.. Very friendly welcoming staff, no hassles with my dog.. Went out of their way to prepare a late meal for us. Excellent leisure centre lovely pool and very friendly non resident too!! Would have happily stayed longer.. Rooms were fairly standard but with decent soft furnishings. Bathroom tho very clean was a bit tired... Hence the not perfect score.
