The hotel is absolutely the nicest hotel we have stayed at, everything was clean and fresh, the rooms were bright, spacious and nicely decorated, all in all gave a warm cozy feeling, a home away from home. the staff was courteous and most helpful. the pool, hot tub and grounds were well cared for. Can't wait to go back

Staff pleasant and helpful. Lots of parking and good breakfast. Rooms spacious.Took my laptop and had wired in internet access. Full size fridge and microwave with table and 2 chairs handy for having in room meals. Each room had a map of Barrie and booklet showing Barrie and area amenities . These were very useful. Visited the waterfront and strolled while eating ice cream. Went through the art museum and the Farmers Market and did some shopping. Had dinner downtown at The Farmhouse. Everyone that I met seemed very friendly.

Having stayed here before, it was pretty much what I expected. Comfortable room and bed. Bathtub needs replaced/refinished, Housekeeping needs to not knock on bedroom doors at 8:30 a.m. to ask if you need anything. The room keys are very touchy and I had to have mine re-keyed several times in a 2 night stay.
The pool is great for children to play in but the chlorine is so strong that it made the eyes sting just from sitting by the pool watching them. There was also a large puddle outside the pool door and although it was marked it was hard to see just how big and deep it was.
The first night, there was only 1 staff at the front desk who seemed to be responsible for everything. She had non-stop people checking in and was also responsible for providing fresh towels for the pool, re-keying keys and all the other problems that cropped up. She was terrific considering the pressure on her but it was very unfair to her and to the clients who deserved someone able to focus better on them.

Situated on the western shore of Lake Simcoe about 60 km north of Toronto, Barrie is a thriving city with much to entertain visitors. Sun seekers flock to its beaches in the summer months, and in the winter the surrounding ski resorts and snowmobile trails offer plenty of excitement. The historic downtown area is fun to wander around, and there are a number of festivals held throughout the year.
