We loved our stay here. We have stayed here a few times and this stay we noticed the upgrades that they have. Newer frig and microwave and loved the red wrap blanket at the end of the bed, it was perfect to wrap around you to sit on the deck. The breakfast area is going to be amazing looking once they are completely.

The best thing about this hotel is the view from the buildings facing the bay. If you stay here, ask for a room on the eastern side of the property where you can see the Astoria bridge and a fuller view. The view rooms that are on the left (western) side do not have quite as good a view, and you can hear the highway traffic outside.
I like the upstairs rooms because there is a common balcony that runs across the whole upper floor. This hotel is outside of the main part of town, but it's an easy 5 or 6 minute drive to get back into the city.
The common areas both inside the hotel and outside in the patio are very clean, attractive and well kept. Inside the hotel rooms however, the rugs look a bit tired and care worn, but if you are looking for an economy hotel with a great view, this is a good choice.

We have stayed here before and will stay here again. Everything about the Cannery is unique and first class. The rooms are spacious and well-designed for living and are not just another "room with a bed and bathroom". The small workout room and hot tub are well-maintained and have a nice view. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. We especially enjoyed the ride to a nearby restaurant with "Spence" our driver in one of the Cannery's old, 1950's vintage cars. He dresses the part and always has a smile.
There is a breakfast and evening reception, complete with a small sampling of wines, as well as always available hot coffee and tea in t he lobby. Being a "coffee-addicts", we thought that was great.
The best thing is that the Cannery sits on the Columbia River and you can watch the huge ships come and go from your balcony at all hours of the day---and they are less than 25 yards away at times!

We picked this for location. I could roll out of bed and walk to the start line of the Great Columbia Crossing, and the finish line is just below the hotel. Check in staff was friendly, just couldn't answer any questions I asked about local restaurants.

Let’s start with the positive:
You have a great view of the boats
Nicely remodeled rooms
Amazing water pressure in the shower
Really comfortable beds
Pillows were decent
Loved having the fridge and stove
Loved the separated beds
Tvs were huge!
Overall a very pleasant stay.
A few negatives:
We were missing some dishes
The chairs with the table and other small furnishings not yet replaced, so this newer looking room then really old chandelier and stained chairs.
No pot holders provided yet there was an oven.
No colinder provided but a pot big enough for spaghetti.
No scissors or knives, which I understand to an extent.
Bathroom was very small
No guide available for the cable tv to view what was on tv, however you don’t come to Astoria to watch tv.
Overall Great room. If your looking for a place to stay inexpensivley I would recommend this place.

We had a terrific stay at this very family friendly and dog-friendly hotel. They had all kinds of great bonuses - Doggie welcome basket, free cookies and coffee, free saltwater taffy, great free breakfast and free movie rentals! The room was super huge. We reserved an Oceanfront room and really enjoyed the view. Walkable to everything! Next door to the Aquarium! The beds were comfortable and the kitchenette was fully stocked. The room is on the older side, but to us, it just fit with the beach vibe. Sure, there are a few scrapes on the door, but the room was super clean and comfortable. And having a fireplace while listening to the waves cannot be beat. We will be back for sure.

Located 96 miles west of Portland, Astoria combines a storied maritime history with a newly hip cultural vibe. Victorian mansions neighbor tattoo parlors and espresso stands, where loggers and fishermen are now seen as frequently as artists and musicians. Ships of all sizes travel from the Pacific through Astoria, where the Columbia River begins its journey east along the Oregon-Washington border.
