I've stayed here a few times for special events, wedding, concert, etc. The rooms are very nice and comfortable, the staff always pleasant and helpful. It's great to wander around, plenty to see and do with the lounge, casino, and restaurant. The smoking everywhere does bother me though, I have to say, that puts me off. And usually, everyone one else in the hotel is also there to party, can be loud in the other rooms or halls. But overall a good quality hotel.

I was very pleased at the cleanliness of the Motel and my room. Extremely impressed by the fact the room did not smell of cigarette smoke!! The uncarpeted floors greatly enhanced the cleanliness of my room. My only complaint is that the plastic cups were not replaced as they had been used.

I was trying to get as close as possible from the south to the Prairie Creek Redwood State Park, so I booked 1 night here. Wow. This is what a remodeled motel can become if the proprietors care! The staff is super friendly. The rooms are furnished with all new, nice, comfy furniture. My room (just a standard queen room), had a table with two chairs, a desk with a high-back office chair, and a nice stuffed recliner! You don't see all that very often. Plus, it had microwave and fridge, and (the holy grail) an AC unit with a digital temp control that didn't run continuously. Bravo!

This progressive college town an hour south of the Oregon border is home to Humboldt State University. Take a walk from the historic Victorian storefronts lining the central plaza to the university's natural history museum. Visit the Oyster Festival mid-June or join the North County Fair Samba Parade mid-September. Visitors can also tour the forest canopy or dig clams at Clam Beach State Park.
