We stayed 7 nights in room 1002 which is a ground floor oceanfront room. At first we were wanting a higher rooom for the view of the ocean and sunsets. However we soon realized our room was pretty fantastic. We could walk out from our patio and within 30 seconds we were on the beach! The water was so close. So going back and forth to our room for washroom use or to get something was extremely convenient. In the morning our patio had some great shade for morning cappuccinos and smartphone time. There wasn’t a lot of traffic going by because there was no path in front of the patio which made for a more private hot tub moment opposed to other ground floor rooms. Staff are excellent and beach service was great. Everything was so close seeing as this resort isn’t massive like others we’ve experienced. The lobby had live music nightly and was actually very good. The bartenders and servers were very attentive. All four restaurants were very tasty. No reservations needed which is the best part because your evening wasn’t guided by time but more by you’re hunger. The sushi bar was nice to have however coming from Vancouver we were disappointed in the quality. Buffet was typical and not our favourite but they never are wherever we go. One of our best meals was taco tasting at the snack bar. We love mexican food and always wondered why resorts don’t serve enough of it. The snorkeling and turtles were the reason we chose this resort and it did not disappoint!!!!

Not a 5 star resort but neither was the price. Nice place with a perfect location and really worth the price. 5th ave was a few blocks towards the ocean for all your entertainment needs and Walmart is two blocks away for any items you might want for your stay. The best part is the staff, these guys are 5 star plus for their friendly attitude and willingness to help out with whatever they can. I would stay again our next trip to PDC.

We stayed here with some family (it was their 4th time this trip!) who highly recommended it. We loved our stay here! It was nice that Sian Ka'an is connected to the other 3 resorts at Bahia Principe- we got to enjoy the quiet jungle side, and take the "train" to the other resorts for the beach, etc. The staff was excellent, and took great care of us. Food was good on the Sian Ka'an side, although some places like the snack bar are slightly lower quality. The restaurants we dined at were amazing! We got spoiled hanging out at the sushi bar pool daily. Carlos is THE BEST bartender. This is also an all-inclusive resort, but tipping even small amounts will better your experience (drinks come faster, stronger, etc).

Everything was great. Our room was upgraded . We celebrated our 38th anniversary at this hotel. Food was almost excellent. The buffet was definitely above average. We have been to Mexico all inclusive prior and I must say we were extremely satisfied with secrets akumel as our choice. The beach was almost perfect.

Great place for when you get into town, don’t have to worry about drinks and food since they are included, free bikes make it very convenient. Super close to the ruins, sushi bar was great, highly recommend staying at least a night

The hotel itself is beautiful and I would re-vist, this was myself and my husbands first time in Mexico and we stayed for 8 nights. Resort once you figured it out was beautiful, pools were nice and always very clean, room was really nice and always clean, hotel staff was very welcoming. My only three complaints were for a 4-5 start hotel you should be including wifi and not charging 700 peso per device for a weeks use we stayed in the superior junior suit which was the upgraded room so it cost quite a bit, second the buffet was not our forte and half the time I went without eating with the exclusion of breakfast which was the only good meal I ate eveey day, it should be optional to pay for ala carte meals other than the 3 included in a weeks stay, my last complaint is the price of the snacks and the drinks at the gift shop on the resort is so uncalled for and robbing customers, I paid $12.50 canadian for a bag of munchie chips and water was $6 per bottle!!!!

We spent 5 nights. Food options at the restaurants were fun with no reservations needed. Decent food. Service was great. Very friendly and helpful staff. Only real complaint was our hallway was noisy starting at 7:00 am everyday with cleaning staff so no sleeping in. One hour ride from the airport. A feature we liked because the complex is so large is that if you wanted to party there was always a group or activity for that but if you wanted privacy there were private beach areas to just chill.

Snorkeling and diving are popular in the small resort town of Akumal, and at Kantenah beach to the north, where the coastline runs parallel to a protected coral reef. In the summer months, sea turtles crawl onto the white-sand beaches by moonlight to lay their eggs. Yal-Ku Lagoon, once a trading route for the ancient Maya, is a bird watcher’s paradise, and can be explored by foot or kayak.
