When it comes to hotels it's all about the location, location and location, and boy does this hotel have a great location. It is situated slap bang in the middle of central Aarhus, literally within 10 minutes walking of most major attractions. When I arrived there was a food festival in the square just before the hotel and the best bar in Aarhus is just below the hotel, Café Under Masken.

Very convenient location, just 2 or 3 minutes walk from the train station. Nice modern lobby. Efficient check-in. Spoke good English. Luggage room when leaving. Room wasn't huge, but for a single it was nice and functional. Good internet and also a nice work 'bar'. Bathroom modern with a very nice rain shower (and I didn't mind the lack of a separate shower stall - it dried quickly). Breakfast buffet was good, with a lot of choices (mainly cold), very fresh bread, etc.

Compared to other European Hotels the standard was "very average" albeit we understand rather the norm for the country e.g. no shampoo/shower gel provided, no tea/coffe facilities in the room etc. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

I was very happy overall. The room was extremely clean, the shower worked very well, there were the basic bathroom amenities you'd expect -- body wash, shampoo, etc. The bed was large and comfortable.
The things I didn't like were minor. The rooms are extremely spartan -- no iron, no real furniture apart from a table, a stool, a chair, a clothes rack and that's all. They don't provide room safes/safety boxes or unsecured storage of any kind. Breakfast is very pricey for a budget place, costing 89 DKK per round. Also, no laundry service.
My biggest problem was the lack of decent lighting in my room. There were three small directed lights in my room, the third of which I could not figure out how to turn on, and I have it on the very best of authority that I'm a reasonably intelligent guy. So, that left two small, underpowered directed lights to see me through the early parts of the night. Not intolerable by any means, but mildly irritating.

This is a nice hotel close to the sea and a great hotel for a quiet getaway weekend. The single room I had was a reasonable size and price with a small balcony and nice sea view. The rooms are nicely decorated with all the usual hotel facilities. Free Wi-Fi that works well. There are only limited channels on the TV and no room service. Its quite a way out of town so you will need a bike or a car if you want t get into Arhus town centre but it is nicely placed to get in and out of town easily.
