Good Option in Terracina
Albergo Mediterraneo is a rather big hotel less than 100 metres from the beach.1) Location - far from it's historical center and cultural life, shops and restaurants. The distance is ca. 1,5-2 km.2) The beach is close, just 3 minutes walk. The average price for umbrellas and sun-beds is ca. 20 EUR per day.3) Eating: the restaurant only serves to those who have pre-booked meals, and there is no bar. The area around is mainly residential. There are no dining options, except beach cafe's, that are closed in the afternoon and do not serve decent food in the evening. So, in order to get normal lunch or diner, you'll have to walk 20 minutes or more.4) Rooms - mine was in the 1-st floor and was clean and spacious, with a balcony. There were an air-con, a mini-bar and a safety-box in the room.5) Swimming pool - really huge, and that is a rarety in Terracina, but is very convenient when the sea is not safe or warm to swim. 6) Breakfast - nothing special, but nothing to complain about either.7) Internet - WiFi is free, but the connection was not good in the room. Try reception or pool areas instead.8) Services - bicycles are available for rent (5 EUR half-day or 10 EUR full day), but there are only 4 of them in the hotel, so order in advance.9) Staff: everyone was polite and friendly. One girl at the reception is Russian-speaking.Tip: there is a SuperBrio supermarket near by. To find it, go to viale Europa and turn left, then right.

Close to beach with only minor problems
Stayed here prior to a cruise out of Rome. Was looking for something near Sperlonga, but this was closest available for the time of the year - mid August. Very nice people, helpful with questions and no problem with English. Two blocks from beach and they have a deal with a private beach where you get two chairs and an umbrella for low price. The pool is huge, and some may prefer that instead of the beach. Close to restaurants and groceries. Not really within walking distance of the town of Terracina, but if you have a car it's worth driving to see. Breakfast buffet was fine and the hotel had WiFi in the lobby that reached to the pool and maybe the front rooms. Only problem we had was the first room the A/C wasn't working. Also the power in the room kept switching on and off. We were moved the next morning. The A/C in that room didn't cool very well, but at least it got rid of the humidity, which the first room didn't. Price was a bit high for what you got, but that may be normal that time of year in that location.

Better than anything else in Terracina. But not quite good enough
So, we stayed here for three nights, simply because there was nothing else to choose from. We left another hotel (Mare Azzurro) to move here and were quite happy with the decision. The plus sides of this hotel are: big rooms, nice pool and a place for kids to have some good time (a little playground). And the breakfast is OK. The staff is friendly and helpful for most part. There are however exceptions from this rule - for example a lady (with a clear non-Italian accent), who supervises the morning shift. Avoid her at any cost.The downsides are, however, significant for a hotel boasting four star category. Firstly, cleanliness leaves much to be desired. The room was even OK. But the bathroom was terrible. Especially the shower. Not even mentioning that it was too small for even 1 thin person, it was plain dirty (I wish not to venture into imaginingn what sort of residue was visible on the sides of the shower basin) and damaged (shower hose almost detached from the handle).In all, we settled for this place mainly because the pool, which we preferred much more than the beach (our kid is too small for bathing in the sea, so pool was an ideal solution). Otherwise this would be at most an average stay.

An unforgettable vacation on the coast of Italy
The hotel is located 20-30 minutes walk from the centre of the small town Terracina. We liked the friendly staff, delicious food; there was a swimming pool at the hotel. We spent our time on the beach and saw local attractions.From Terracina you can easily reach Rome by train, also you can take up to Sorrento, and then the beautiful island of Capri, and Naples. Schedule can be refined at the reception or by pre-prepared. We travelled a lot, we saw all the small towns that were nearby this place, (taxi was not expensive). These towns were so sweet, cute and cosy. Beaches were good, though not free, the sea there is one of the cleanest in Italy. Thus, in Terracina it is very easy to combine a beach vacation with sightseeing. It seemed comfortable and enjoyable. Italy is a beautiful country and people there are friendly and kind. Nature is very beautiful - the sea and mountains. At the heart of Terracina, there are good restaurants overlooking the sea, so lovely!! If you want to relax and watch something, but at the same time and immerse yourself and become a part of local Italian life - visit Terracina, the Hotel Mediterraneo.

It was bad experience
We were very disappointed about this hotel. First of all, rooms are not spacious, the walls are too thin, so you try not to speak very loudly, but always hear someone talking next room. And Italian tourists are very loud, that's why you can't relax even lying on your bad in the daytime. One day we went to the Rome for the whole day and when we were back we found that the door to our room was open! Fortunately, everything was OK and nothing was stolen.Breakfast is scanty: one type of cheese, boiled eggs, bacon or sausages, bakery (from the shop) and fruits (sometimes not very clean). We stayed in the hotel for 2 weeks and at the end we couldn't even look at this food. Not tasty. The staff is not attentive, they prefer Italians, not foreign tourists.Swimming pool in the hotel is very good, water was very clean and warm in July, there were enough space. But pool inspector, Italian, was very rude. He doesn't know English and tried to explain something to foreigners shouting in Italian. Sometimes he turned on the music, so I couldn't hear my partner next to me and couldn't read my book. I suppose the administration of the hotel should give attention to the way he works.It takes 2 or 3 minutes to cross the road and get to the beach. There are a lot of beaches near the hotel and the most cheap was Tahoa - 17 euro per day if you prefer to lie on sunbeds and 11 euro per day if you choose sunchairs (but they are not comfortable). You'd better take your own towel to the beach or to the swimming pool, other way you need to take hotel towels (3 euro rer 1 towel per a day). So it is expensive to lie on the beach.Terracina is very nice city with very old center, and it is sittuated near the mountains. There is a wonderful view from the top: in the evening you can see the whole city in lights, the sea and several Italian villages. It takes 30 minutes to walk to the center of Terracina from the hotel. And the walk is very pleasant because you go along the seaside. In the center there are a lot ot of cafes and restaurants and they are opened from 7 p.m. Good and very fresh fish in Oscar pesca (30 euro for a meal), and very tasty Italian cuisine in restaurant Centodiscente (don't rememeber how to write it in a right way, 50060 euro for a meal) - 15 minutes from the hotel.They have free wireless internet, but the speed in the room is very slow so you shoul go to the lobby and sit there.So the hotel is not worth 4 stars and it doesn't correspond the money you pay for it. Though the staff on the reception is very attentive and helpful and they know English, Italian, Russian.
