Good front of house but...
From the outside and in the entrance area all looks good. A nice Costa coffee cafe and various sporty types coming through to use the gym facilities.It's just when you go behind the scenes everything looks very tired. First evidence is the fire doors down the long corridors which have been battered by the laundry trollies. The room doors are flimsy and the door lock systems are outdated as are the room fittings/furniture. Gave up with the TV as it was not workable.WIFI throughout and free, but not the fastest.Breakfast was OK as was the service from the staff.

Questionable billing
The hotel staff were very friendly. The room clean and functional. The restaurat food was hot but the service very slow. They paid more attention to people arriving than those already seated. The wine prices are pretentious for a budget chain. The food service in the pub was the same, an hour's wait for a burger. What really alarmed me though was that despite presenting my booking confirmation when checking in, I had to ask for the account to be amended 3 times before it was correct. Then, when signing the restaurant bill we had the same problem and again had to ask for it to be amended 3 times before it was correct. It is all too easy just to sign a tab without checking!

Great family room
Stayed one night while attending a wedding in the area. Booked a family room. Great size with plenty of storage, 2 dressing tables plus a table with four chairs. The children slept on a sofa bed an a z bed. Only criticism the bathroom needed some attention on the tiles.

Looks can be deceiving!
Well it looks promising from the outside, and the hotel website! But cracked paint work, bland food and dodgy tablecloths are not what was I was expecting. For the price, it was about right. But I think they should seriously consider changing the pictures on their website if they want to avoid more disappointed customers.

Good Location, decent hotel, enthusiastic staff
Stayed for business reasons and enjoyed friendly atmosphere created by conscientious staff. Upper Deck room was clean, comfy, well-appointed with free WiFi. Rate included breakfast. Bar has big screens to watch sport and fine range if beverages. I'd stay there again. Has leisure pool and gym. Tom C Notts
