Dirty pillows
Stayed recently for two nights while attending a wedding. On the first night complained about the stained pillows and these were replaced by other stained pillows. Complained again the following day about the pillows and the same pillows were each covered with two pillowcases to cover the stains. The bed was generally well worn and fell below an acceptable standard.We felt the quality of the room did not reach a 4 star standard and also neither did the quality of the breakfast.The pool was closed.We would not return to this hotel or recommend it to friends

IOM Golf Tour
Excellent facilities with helpful staff that made our stay very enjoyable. The leisure facilities such as gym, squash courts, driving range and golf course were all put to good use. The golf course pro was very friendly and couldn't do enough for our group. Although the hotel is slightly out of Douglas, it was only a 5 min ¿¿10 taxi ride into town. Overall I couldn't fault the hotel and their staff.

Nice stay
I booked 2 rooms for myself, husband and son, to stay on my birthday. I had told the lady at the hotel that it was my birthday and there was some fruit, bottled water and a little box of chocs in my room when we arrive, which I thought was a nice thing to do, thank you xRoom was lovely, tv was one of the biggest we have ever seen in a hotel, son's tv wasn't as big but he was watching the one in our room with us. Our bed was massive, we were in room 314 overlooking the lake and was very quite. I had asked for one overlooking the lake, quite and as close to our son's room, he was next door, so thank you the Mount Murray staff. Check in was easy, they told us that the swimming pool was still not open, but I already knew that, slightly disappointed but it didn't spoil my stay. Didn't eat at the hotel at night, but the breakfast we nice enough, service was quick, and food still fresh, and we didn't go down until 9.30am, they finish at 10am. Thank you for the kind thought of fruit etc in my room, really appreicated this. We did think that the outside of the building was beginning to look a bit shabby and our bathroom was beginning to look a bit tired too.Bedroom was fine. Curtains didn't close completely so the light came into the room in the morning and woke me up earlier than I would do normally.

Very comfortable and friendly hotel
Stayed here for a long weekend in April and had a very nice time. The hotel is in the countryside outside Douglas surrounded by a golf course and so a car is necessary. The hotel is well appointed with a spa and swimming pool (however this was closed for refurbishment during our stay). It was very clean and tidy with quality furniture in the public areas, the bar and the restaurant. The public reception area is quite small and has a small but private internet corner. The bar is well stocked and although it was always quite busy it seemed to be very restful.The breakfast room/restaurant is spacious and has a 'conservatory' style extension which can get very warm and sunny on a bright day.The breakfast was excellent and is a combination of self-service and prepared-to-order dishes. We did not eat dinner in the hotel but it looked very tasty and again it was a combination of self-service and prepared dishes. It was always very busy at nights which suggested the food was excellent.I found the staff outstandingly helpful throughout the hotel, especially the Deputy Manager caller Mirsha who facilitated us with a very early check-in (because of the ferry times), a room on the ground floor and very useful local information. The bedroom was spacious and airy with flat screen TV and loads of plug sockets which was handy for array of portable things we needed to charge over-night. The bed clothes were clean and crisp and the beds and pillow were very comfortable. The room had two arm chairs which was good for watching TV or reading.I would recommend this hotel as an excellent choice as a comfortable base to explore the island as long as you have your own means of transport.

Amazing service, great facilities
I have just got back from the hotel. It was my first trip to the Isle and the purpose was for work.I arrived at the hotel - the chap who checked me in even walked me to the room!I ordered room service on my first night. I had the burger and chips. Both were home made, arrived quickly and were tasty. I also used the gym on the first night. There seem to be a lot of faciilities, although I'm not too active to have made the most of them.Considering the hotel was relatively quiet, there was everything you could have wanted for breakfast and it wasn't in short supply. The ladies who serve in the breakfast restaurant were professional, helpful, polite and swift.My only criticism is the fact that they replace towels and soap every day. I mentioned this to reception who said people expect it. Diva types, I assume - who replaces the soap in their house every day?And I think the heating issue has been resolved. I told reception that the cleaner had accidentally left a card in the 'electricity box' in my room (you know, the one where you put your room card and the lights come on). They advised that it was so the heating would stay on.
