What can one say
4th visit to this excellent hotel. Just what we wanted after the UK winter. .As in the past, we had our usual room. We like it, despite the plumbing vagaries, with views over the Gulf, especially when thunder and lightening prevails followed by gale force winds which destroyed the Bayview Restaurant terrace evening barbecue. But must say, everything was back up and running as best they could initially and by the time poolside had been cleaned and become operational the following morning it was difficult to see what had happened the previous evening. Well done to all the staff.Snack lunch at the Al Mar is a good change. Relieves the call on the Restaurant at lunch time. Food as always up to the usual standard.Good that the Lagoon is taking off with the barbecues, but setting up for the barbecue does reduce the seating for a sundowner.Good to see that the dress code for the evening meal (men wear long trousers, cropped trousers do not count) is more effectively applied. Once wet costumes in the dining room at lunchtime are completely eradicated there will not be anything further to do in that respect. As ever all the staff were very attentive to their returning guests. We are now looking to return in October. We shall enjoy, AS WE ALWAYS DO

"Relax and relax"
A much needed break from the rain and cold !! From booking this short vacation and then spending a week at the Intercontinental Taba Heights ( 6 - 13 May ) everything was as advertised. Even the last minute addition of a golf package to the vacation was expertly arranged by Longwood Holidays - and the golf course was superb. The all inclusive package was exactly that and overall the quality and variety of food and drinks available was very good. Excellent choices for breakfast including eggs cooked to order, fresh bread and pastries, fresh fruit etc.. Varied lunch menu with hot and cold buffet. Different roast meats each day at dinner and other hot and cold choices available - including vegetarian. Sweets and pastries definitely moreish ! OK, if you had three main courses each day (all on the same plate as some did!!) then choices might be limited at the end of the week. Drinks more than plentiful. BBQ night as an option at the Lagoon Restaurant was excellent. Sun beds always available at the pools and beach area. We had a sea view room which was a good size with a small balcony to sit outside and the rooms were cleaned daily - the shower not exactly a "power shower". We found the service from the staff to be excellent, especially in the Bay View restaurant plus service at the pool bar was also good. Chris Jung (GM) and his team are to be congratulated for making this a great vacation. Special mention to Barakat and Abdo in the Bay View Restaurant - always pleasant and smiling and Hassan at the pool bar. We are looking forward to a return visit very soon

A Relaxing Break
We travelled as a Family of 6 adults aged between 22-50 on Saturday 27th April to Monday 6th May . On Arrival we were dealt with swiftly at reception, we had all booked Shoreview rooms as part of our package holiday but trying to find our way to the room was a big awkward - it wasnt really signposted but we found our way after asking a few people for help! Two of the three rooms were great, unfortunately our room was really smokey (was a non-smoking room) and even though we left the air con on and the doors/windows open to air out the room overnight we couldnt get rid of the smell. On talking to reception in the morning they were brilliantly helpful and apologetic about the room, we were offered to check out another room to ensure we were happy with it before being moved. We were taken by a porter via Golf Cart to the room and returned to reception once we were definitely happy with it and then moved rooms around 4pm which was fine by us. The food in the buffet was nice; there was plenty of selection at every meal and the breads were always great. Breakfasts were the same every day and towards the end of the week all the meals got a bit samey - but the barbecue that occured a few nights on the terrace were delicious! The pool bar restaurant was a nice lunchtime break from the mad dash of the buffet, the food was always nice and bit more relaxed. We did have the BBQ meal at the lagoon on our last night - this was such a good meal! The food just kept coming - mezzah starters (dips, breads and salad) to the meats and sides (veg, rice and potato) and then desserts all for a very reasonable price! It does state 160 Egyptian Pounds per person (roughly ¿¿16pp) but then they add on taxes and service charge which is more likely to be around ¿¿20pp - still definitely worth getting it as its so yummy and a great break from the buffet! The pool area was great, and the landscaping around the whole hotel was lovely. The pool bar can get a bit crammed at times and the swim up bar is virtually non-existent but if you tipped the guy collecting the glasses he will get you drinks instead every now and then! The hotel doesnt have much going on but we were there for 9 nights and didnt feel the need to do much else so its not boring to say the least! We did venture out for a walk one day and went snorkelling off the jetty outside another hotel about 15mins walk to the left of the hotel - there is a path all the way along and it is definitely worth making the walk! The water is crystal clear and the amount of fish is amazing! I do not particularly like going in the sea so i stayed on the jetty whilst the others swam - i could see just as much from out the water and it was beautiful! The week before we were there turtles were spotted in this area so go check it out!! The staff were possibly the best bit of the whole holiday! They were never pushy and just like to have a chat - they were what made the holiday extra special with the fact they would go out of their way to make sure you were happy. We spent most of our evenings in the Lagoon bar, this was a lot more of a relaxed atmosphere than the lobby bar and was great to try all the cocktails and enjoy the breeze! Also we were staying at the building next to the bar so even more incentive. All in all, it wasnt a 5 star holiday but it was a nice break with guaranteed weather, great staff and a nice relaxing atmosphere!

Exactly what we needed
We needed a relaxing and sunny break away from the English weather and chose a week at the InterContinental Taba Heights. We had a lovely time : great room, very friendly staff, excellent food and lots of sunshine. We were on an all inclusive package which was good but we took the opportunity to try the other restaurants too and really enjoyed them. We can highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a relaxing time in the sun. Carol

Great Hotel, Great Location, Staff let the whole package down.
This spring myself and my family chose this hotel as a holiday destination due to past experience of various members of our holidaying group. The location is perfect, the hotel clean and spacious, the pool a delicious break from the scorching sun, the snorkelling opportunities are pretty limitless, drinks are bountiful, and the hotel lives up to the all inclusive theme without reserve.Food is generally ok, the dining experience on the whole good, although can feel a little school dinners with a dash of unknown (thinking of the Egyptian scrambled egg.. be wary)The only thing I can discount this hotel on is the staff. Don't get me wrong there are some real gems in there (there is a guy at the beach bar who was just lovely, really lovely, he frequently walked round the pool and offered to refresh drinks. The egg man in the morning, who can keep 8 frying pans going at a time, and never forgot what you ordered was another gem), but the majority rules, and the majority were ignorant and downright rude. We slowly got used to be ignored, and shoulder shrugs were bountiful, when you did manage to get a member of staffs attention when something went wrong, on the off chance they haven't walked away from you mid sentance.Organisation is really lacking, especially in the "el mar" lunchtime restaurant. These staff especially seem to make life hard for themselves. I don't think I have ever come across a more disorganised bunch. They managed, on a daily basis to annoy and enrage just about every Brit we came across. Brits when faced with a busy situation, will generally form a queue and wait patiently to be seated and will take their turn. However this restaurant is chaotic, with some people queuing and others (generally locals and Russian clients less inclined to queue) to bully and take tables as they feel like it.On the worst instance, we stood and patiently queued for 40 mins, watching tables be snapped up, and were even confronted by other hotel guests who were far more aggressive to back away from tables. We were repeatedly ignored by staff, eye rolling, and even openly laughing at us was all part of the experience. It is probably the worst dining experience I have ever encountered. There were lots of staff, but none of them seemed to be doing anything other than dodging the people that needed them to get organised and stop what had become a manic lunch service, in 40+ degree heat.A few of the boys in our group ventured off for a day of golf. The feedback was that it was superb, and they would have spent a lot more time there is they could have done. The Spa is also a must visit, and is surprisingly under used. Book yourself a massage, you won't regret it.To recap, amazing location, lots to do, or not do. Just a shame that a majority of staff we encountered (not all, as stated some of the staff were amazing) left a shadow over the holiday. Will keep an eye on Trip advisor and see other reviews, as we would desperately like to come back to Taba sept this year, if the staff are behaving better, the intercontinental will be our 1st choice.
