Great downtown LA hotel
Very nice hotel to stay at if you are visiting the downtown LA area. Conviently located near the Staples Center and various attractions like the Bradbury building and Angel's Flight. Excellent and very friendly staff. My only complaint is the bar needs to be brought up to a higher standard and stay open a little later. The bar seenmed somewhat disorganized and they closed it around 11:00. Downtown LA has come a long ways but you probably don't want to be wandering the streets of LA late at night. It would be nice to have a cozy bar to come back to. Although, you have to pay $38 a night for parking, the valet service was professional and very helpful. And, by-the-way, the Rolling Stones were awesome!

Nice downtown hotel
My son and I just spent two nights at the hotel while on a college visit. I normally avoid Hilton properties but booked Checkers based on location and overall positive reviews on TA. We stayed in a corner double room with a walk in rain shower. I was very pleased overall. The staff was very courteous and helpful.. Beds were comfortable with great pillows. My only complaint is the water pressure in the shower was not good and never really heated up past lukewarm. I would definitely stay here again.

Average hotel with good service.
Check-in was smooth and fast. When they saw we were two adults and two kids, they offered to set up an extra bed. Room was a bit small for a family of four but I'm used to bigger hotels so maybe I'm just not used to it. Tried room service and the food tasted just okay.

Amazing service
I stayed at the Hilton Checkers in LA for a conference last week. The hotel staff was just amazing. They were so helpful and very genuine about wanting to hear any issues and resolve them. My AC wasn't working the first night and they brought me a fan at 11 AM and fixed it pronto the next day. They printed my boarding pass, driving directions, even offered to get my rental car from enterprise. Maybe other hotels offer this service as well but it was the way the staff did it so nicely that really made you feel like a valued guest.

Surprised in a good way
Had an excellent stay recently on business. The hotel wasn't too much to look at from the street or lobby and thus my little bit of surprise with room quality, food and beverage service. The food in the restaurant was excellent - had a dinner and a breakfast there. Afternoon snack at the bar featured a clever twist on shrimp cocktail - diced with lobster stirred with the cocktail sauce into a highball glass garnished with tortilla strips and avocado. Cool. Typical Hilton quality bed. No view from the sixth floor.
