Excellent location and facility
Was here for the first time 15 years ago and this past week-end I could ascertain that Ees Wyke has not lost its charm. The stunning view and quiet location is excellent to relax after a day out hiking. The room was quiet and comfortable. Make sure you ask for a lake-view when you book, but otherwise the rooms are actually all very nice. The bathrooms have been refurbished (in my room it was anyway) and the shower was really good. Food: Richard, the host is apparently a very good chef. He won the rosette for culinary excellence for the past 6 years. We only ate breakfast in the morning, but this was really tasty and offered a wide choice of cereals, fruit, yogurt, freshly squeezed juice - cooked breakfast was also great and extremely tasty.Only down-side was that the dinner started at 6.30 pm, kinda early for us (actually you have to be there to order at 6.30 but dinner does not start until 7.30 apparently) on that day so we could not make it back from our hike in time. You need to book your dinner in advance as Richard has to buy fresh ingredients. I think that is totally fine as his cuisine sounded amazing, but wished a little more flexibility on the time.

Magic food and views
We have stayed at Ees Wyke many times over the past 8 years and we have never been disappointed. The views are simply stunning and the food takes a lot of beating. Richard is the owner/chef clearly enjoys cooking and preparing a fantastic array of local produce. The sticky toffee pudding must be the best I have ever eaten! Breakfast is also wonderful, even offering home made porridge with whisky and cream. There are so many walks nearby which are for all levels of ability. We went this time for a belated birthday and drank champagne outside on the terrace watching the sun go down over the backdrop of the mountains. Magic!

Idyllic; a great weekend break
We stayed here last year and are desperate to get back, we think of it fondly and often. It's a beautiful location, stunning views and when you arrive you are greeted like an old friend. Dinner was wonderful, the owner/chef clearly enjoys his craft and knows good food. There were two adorable sheep dogs that lay like rugs at the front door, and didn't even budge when you stepped over them, another endearing feature. Take time to seek out this treasure, you won't be disappointed.
