Golf and rest paradise
Really nice staff, big and luxurious rooms, beautiful installations and the Golf course is excellent (no wonder is ranked no. 1 in Spain). The Golf club cafeteria has a perfect view over hole 1, and the sport boutique has a very good selection for golf lovers.The Spa is quite limited in space, considering that most of the guests (golfers) like to relax after their golf rounds. So, it can be quite crowded.The treatment's section in the Spa is wonderfully attended by a fantastic masseuse.Breakfast buffet is made for variated tastes, and offers spanish cuts, cheeses, cava, juices and energetic beverages among the usual morning food.Make sure you book your t-time in advance, specially in high season.

Expensive food
During our stay at the Melia of course our focus was on playing golf... and when you are done playing golf you are usually hungry, specially when you play 27 holes / day - like we did. Nice if you could enjoy the comfort of staying in your hotel to have a nice dinner. Well, ... we did stay at the hotel for one night to have food, after that first night we went out every single day looking for restaurants that serve quality for a good price and not like this hotel, poor quality food for over the top prices! All food and beverage in this place are over the top expensive and the food is poor quality. With a group of 10 people sitting in the bar area in the basement it was quiet difficult to order drinks... it almost seemed the waiter was scared of taking our money. Ordering warm sandwiches twice, getting served cold straight-from-the-fridge toppings, twice... So basically the hotel looses money there daly, and people before me have written this here, but there seems to be nothing done about it except for a copy paste comment from the manager.Dont order room service either, small tiny nachos are 7 ¿¿¿, and then you have to pay an additional 4 ¿¿¿ for room service, yes thats 11¿¿¿ for a small tiny bowl of nachos.Breakfast: not much variation and the coffee tastes bad. Not hard to fix!The rooms are nice and clean, really nothing to complain there, I liked them a lot. Big beds.Tiny spa area which is to small, tiny 3 meter by 5 meter gym area with no view. If food wouldnt be such an important thing to make one comfortable, this would easy be a "very good" rating. Sorry, not coming again unless I read that there are being made significant changes in the pricing of food & beverage.

2nd visit. Great rooms, avoid if you don't like big groups of British golfers!
Stayed here on our way through Spain from the UK. I played the Stadium course while my wife enjoyed a day in the hotel. Rooms, in my opinion, are excellent. Massive beds, lots of space and furniture, large light bathrooms etc. The pool is lovely too. Just a word of warning to non-golfers....it's more than likely you'll come across large groups of British lads away from home on a golf tour, and as such are likely to dominate the communal areas and bars/restaurants. Most are just having a good time and are well behaved but you might come across a few that make your stay uncomfortable. If you're on a golf tour, look no further, its a great hotel for your trip!

Comfort, Service and Value for Money
We have stayed in the Melia Golf Vichy Catalan many times (we are building a house in the resort). As a result we are very familiar with the hotel and the staff.The hotel is beautifully designed and the rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Wifi works very well and is free. The service is invariably friendly and enthusiastic, although occasionally you may need to wait a couple of minutes to get a drink in the bar if the barman is collecting food from the kitchen.The restaurant is also very good.Overall it is always a pleasure to stay here and we will be (almost) be sorry when our house is completed.

Reasonable quality, good for golf
If you want a comfortable Hotel close to the PGA Catalunya, then this is for you. This is very much a corporate/business hotel though, rather than a resort Hotel. On the website they claim to book courses for you, but when I got no response to an email and called them they just told me to book direct with the courses! Several things went wrong with my stay, but in general the staff did what they could to either correct the situation or provide a gift in compensation.I definitely cannot reccomend the food despite it not being cheap. The golf club has a better kitchen and there are several nice resaurants in Caldes 10mins away. The biggest surprise for me was the SPA area. This is really just a splash pool and a Sauna and Steam room. Given that the PGA tour school was about to arrive, I do not think it would be big enough! The outdoor swimming pool looked like it would be nice in the Summer, though.
