Amazing place, ideally located
The hotel is ideally located in a very green and flowery area (near the Oosterpark and the Royal Tropical Institute). Il is also near the train station Muiderpoort, which is linked to the Schipol airport. The tram number 9 takes you directly to Central station and tram number 7 to the recently reopened Rijksmuseum. I enjoyed the combination of an old stylish house with modern and comfortable design. I never had such a huge room (with a very high ceiling) and it was relatively quiet although it was on the street side (but bicycles are indeed more silent than cars!). The staff was welcoming, helpful and smiling. And Amsterdam, such a beautiful and relaxing city, especially under the sun and what they call the "springsnow"!

Great Hotel, Great Staff!
We were a bit hesitant to stay here, after reading some of the reviews about the staff behavior, but we had no problems whatsoever. The staff is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. A short walk from the Muiderpoort Train Station, the Manor Hampshire Eden is located along a busy street and close to the tram, restaurants, and shops. It's also conveniently located near Oosterpark. Our check in experience was excellent. The friendly woman at the front desk welcomed us and spoke English very well, as does most of the staff here. She was helpful with recommendations on which trams to take into central Amsterdam, and cautioned us about the crowds on Queen's Day and associated disruptions to tram services due to re-routing and increased demand. Our room was located on the street side, a bit of a concern due to traffic noise, but the windows were extremely well insulated, and you could barely hear the outside noise. Our view was somewhat hampered by the awnings over the windows. The bed was comfortable. A large screen TV played mostly Dutch programming, but BBC, and SkyNews were available. The bathroom was modern and very clean. Some other reviewers noted the frosted glass door and the clear glass panels along either side of the bathroom mirror, allowing for peeping into the bathroom. This was not a major concern for us, but for strangers or more modest people sharing the room, it could be uncomfortable. The shower has no curtain, just a partial panel, so you have to be somewhat careful so as not to splash too much water around. There were plenty of shelves to keep toiletries and towels. An in-room safe in the closet came in handy for storing valuables. It was large enough to accommodate a small laptop computer. The breakfast buffet in the dining room was nice. Nothing fancy. There was bacon, scrambled and boiled eggs, sausage, smoked salmon, cheeses, cold cuts, coffee, espresso, juices, and a variety of pastries and croissants. If you're looking for a quick bite to eat before heading out to explore, the buffet might be a good option for you. If you're in no hurry, there are several cafes up the street that are available too. Overall, the Manor Hampshire Eden is a good value, conveniently located to local transportation, shops, and restaurants, and is a well-managed property, The rooms are clean, the restaurant and bar are nice, and the staff is accommodating and friendly. It's a bit far from Central Amsterdam, but the neighborhood it's in is nice. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider this hotel for a future stay,

Amazing Place, Shocking Staff.
Brilliant place, an ok location, a little too far to walk into the centre (we did it one evening, but not reccomended) Decor, and Design of the hotel are beautiful, the actual room was one of the best I've ever stayed in, but the staff were Rude, Obnoxious & Just Unhelpful. Would love to go back, I have to say I think it may have been because of our age and I suppose its pressumed that we've gone to Amsterdam to get High and Sleep. It was actually far from that, a romantic break, and the staff put nothing but dampeners on this. Upsetting. Will not be returning for that reason.

Overall a Very Nice Experience
This is a reasonably priced hotel a short distance from the city center. Public transportation in Amsterdam is amazing so we never traveled for more than 15 minutes or waited for more than 10. The hotel is a converted hospital with small but comfortable rooms. The decor is very modern and somewhat loud for my tastes but who cares...I wasn't in Amsterdam to enjoy staying in my room. The internet is on a "tiered" service with higher bandwidth being more expensive. At 256k (I believe) the service is free. Again, unless you are sitting in your room streamin videos the free service is adequate for most needs. i was also able to connect multiple devices laptop, iPad, iPhone and Blackberry with no additional charges. The beds are comfortable and the bath is clean and adequately sizedMy only criticism is that the room had a small armoire for hanging clothes and no dresser or drawers. Unfortunately this meant living out of our suitcases and not feeling entirely settled in our room. There are small shelf nightstands on either side of the bed and it seems it would be easy and useful to replace them with drawers to unpack fully. The staff was a little slow greeting us on check-in but after all of our experiences, I can only attribute that to the Dutch being SO helpful to everyone that they sometimes don't finish their previous conversation quickly. When we needed ANY assistance they gave us their full and undivided attention until we were satisfied. Extremely friendly and thorough service. I would retrun to this hotel on any visit to Amsterdam!

I expected more from a 4* hotel
I booked this hotel because it offered a reasonable rate, all in all it is a very beautifull building with (small) nicely decorated rooms. Weeks before I planned to arrive I had e-mailed the hotel to request a twin bed room near the elevators because I would be travelling with my 83-year old mother who has difficulties with walking, within the next 24-hours the hotel replied that they had added my comments to the reservation. Upon check-in I reminded the receptionist about this and she answered that they had kept the perfect room for my mother's limitations. After we had taken the elevator, we found our room at the far end of the longest wing, my mother decided to do the effort to find a one queen bed room. I immediately ran down again and requested another room, which was no longer available as the hotel was full. The receptionist couldn't care less and carried on with her work without giving me a second look... this really was ver POOR customer service! We will never visit this hotel again, regardless of the price.
