A big welcome from the landlady. The location is good being near enough the old town to leave your car in the car park and toddle along the Abbey Forgate for your evening meal and bevy. Room five is nice as a single room with a 4¿¿¿6¿¿¿ bed. Admittedly the mattress had seen better days but I was so tired I¿¿¿d have slept on a bale of straw and I had two undisturbed nights. Very nice shower room. The only real disadvantage of Abbey Court is the restrictive breakfast times: 8.30-9.00 on Sunday and the same on Monday ¿¿¿because it¿¿¿s a bank holiday¿¿¿. Don¿¿¿t stay here if you need an early start.

spent a weekend here, Val was so welcoming and i felt like i had known her for years. The bed was so comfy the best sleep i had for ages ( i asked if i could take it home ) . The breakfast well what can i say except fantastic, fantastic . More toast was offered , more drinks it was excellent . It won't be your cup of tea if you want the Ritz but for a weekend it was perfect . Well done Val and Andy

This is what I describe as an extended B&B, so don't expect hotel accomodation. Room saw reasonably sized with Tea/ Coffee, TV & En Suite. Perhaps a little dated but clean & comfy. Breakfast was excellent. It's about a 15 minute walk into town centre. Overall no gripes.

If you are looking to have quality time away with your partner, be sure to confirm that you have been given a double room. My partner and I were really looking forward to a special night away from home but were terribly disappointed to be allocated a twin room which we did not ask for. There were no double rooms available and if we had known this we would have stayed elsewhere, (which the owner probably knew).The room itself was adequate but needed updating. We were given no information about what the arrangements for breakfast were and as a result I ended up standing in the main street for 5 mins waiting to be let in. I thought 9am on a Sunday was very early to stop serving and the breakfast itself was average with the sausages in particular being of poor quality. Someone earlier said you pay for what you get, and they are absolutely right. I will not be making a similar mistake again.

We called in on the off chance and were lucky to be offered a room ( family room ) room was clean and tidy we were greeted and booked in by there son Cameron ( a lovely lad & so polite ) we had the cost reduced because we did not require breakfast, cleaners did try to get into our room before checkout time , this hotel certainly could do with some new carpet on the stairs & updating but generally this was as expected for the money , you get what you pay for
