missing something?
generaly good, just missing some atmosphere. Buffet a bit repetative and beds uncomfortable. Also hotel is very isolated so a long stay (7 days +) would become a little tiresome. However, the pura vida steak restaurant was very good.

A change from Dubai...worth it for a beach holiday in the sun
We usually stay in Dubai a few times a year but as my husband and I separated we have 2 rooms to pay for now. We good friends and do holidays for the kids. So as this was cheaper thought give a go. The transfer took time about an hour from airport. Rooms are big and nice bathrooms albeit lots ants. There is no wifi in room even if you pay which I did, however by water fountain pool there is wifi and in lobby. Annoying that I paid 400 dirhams for week and despite asking several times to get in room didn't get....they assured me I would be never happened... Used gym every other day, ok gym machines old but had everything there. Food was lovely and our waitress was lovely too. Bar service by pool not great only one waiter whole pool where we were. Toilets were diabolical v dirty. Staff friendly. It's not 5 star compared say royal meridian but then paying half price. There's no turn down service in evening and whilst husbands room got towel art, ours didn't which disappointed my daughter. However we would stay here again. The grounds lovely and food good. I'm being picky but have stayed in top hotels all over world. This is 4 star due cleanliness ants toilets etc.

lovely place
My hubby and me had a wonderful relaxing holiday in march .All the staff were helpful and pleasant, food and accommodation very good .We had a garden room .it was close to pools beach and restaurant . Ideal for families and couples. Bar staff in adult only bar very good shame smoking was permitted it was a bit smoky .Having said that can't wait to go back to this hotel.

4th visit
Returned from Ras 26th March after our 4th visit with friends.It was another great holiday at the resort,enjoy it more each time.We were upgraded to the 5th floor with a beautiful view around the bay.Many thanks to the manager & team for the birthday cake ,flowers, friut etc, much appreciated.Also thanks to our housesteward for a spotless room & for the towel art & petal decorations.As always all the staff are attentive polite & helpful, a credit to the manager,food was excellent & now even better that Virgin guests can dine around in the Italian & Asian restuarants,food service & presentation excellent in both.this is a late review as I could not post another review for a few months as is Tripadvisers rules.We cannot wait to return next year for another relaxing holiday, or even sooner.

Great stay, great value...but a couple of improvements
We stayed half board as we felt the extra cost to all inclusive was not worth it as we don't really drink that much. We travelled with Virgin Holidays and all went smoothly. Check in was very quick and we were surprised to learn we had been upgraded to a Deluxe King garden room, which was stunning. The resort itself is well kept, plenty of helfpul staff, and the decor inside the hotel is beautiful. Food in the main restaurant was generally very good (we actually thought it was excellent for the first two daysbut then we felt it went downhill slightly, especially Arabic night). Breakfasts are amazing - too much choice. Some things that would have made our stay a little better.... having a non smoking section or ban it completely on the outside terrace of the Maarid restaurant. At one point every table around us were ALL smoking - not nice when you are eating. Also, the drinks were extremely expensive and as we dont generally drink with our meals it would be a nice touch to be offered at least a complimentary glass of water! Free wifi please - All we want to do is check emails from our loved ones not download large amounts of data. Charging for wifi is so old-fashioned nowadays.Also unfortunately there is an element of sunlounger saving and you do have to be up and out reasonably early to get the best locations. We used the free shuttle (every evening) to go to the local mall and buy water and soft drinks and snacks for a fraction of the price in the hotel.However, the niggles above did not impact on our holiday and overall a fantastic stay. I'm sure we'll be back
