Shabby Chic but Spotless!
I agree with Sans08 and GwenPenrith .. all staff - from Restaurant Managers to Beach Towel attendants, cleaners and gardeners - are what make this hotel such a wonderful experience. Despite being in need of a little TLC (it was v funny when a gentleman's chair gently collapsed in the restaurant one day!) the hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were constantly attentive. The snorkelling was stunning and local trips available from the doorstep were good value for money, with - again - the most attentive of guides. The food was really good and the service in the restaurant was faultless. The grounds were beautiful, the pools well-maintained and the spa and gym were well-equipped and spotlessly clean. We would particularly like to thank Maher, the infinity pool barman, for his attentive professionalism and smiling face. We looked at the sister hotel next door, which was bigger and seemed newer, but we felt it was less personal and more expensive. Melia Sinai has a personal touch that is second to none! And we would definitely go again.

Oh to be British
The hotel is in a lovely setting by the beach and is fairly small. We arrived to find we were the only British people in the hotel as we booked on line and not as a package. The rest were Russian/Georgian/Ukranian and all were fat and rude. It was clear that the Egyptian hotel staff hated them as they ate too much or as was normal, took too much food but DID NOT eat it! Queuing is an alien concept to them and we were regularly pushed aside in their scramble for food. Once we the staff realised we were British we were treated like royalty with tables saved and smiles all round. To be honest i cannot fault the staff as they were polite and good fun. In fact the whole experience was actually wonderful, if not character building. The food, service and cleanliness was very good. The hotel could do with a lick of paint though. Egyptian Shabby Chic is what we called it and we would definitely go again.

Not all bad
I agree with everything sans08 said, the rooms need updating and the bathrooms are needing a good grout to get rid of the mould, apart from that and a very old hard bed the room was very clean. We had a word with the restaurant manager Mohamed and were very pleased with the result. Our pool waiter mahir was a little star and also Ahmed in the main bar made our holiday, they couldn't do enough for you. All in all a very good holiday only spoilt by the very greedy and rude guests from Eastern Europe. Once again my thanks to those mentioned above.

Lovely Relaxing Week
We stayed here 9th - 16th March. Now for an honest review, as we booked on the fact that the hotel was rated 4/5* by the operators and received 4* on TripAdvisor. We had no real negatives, but there are areas that could be improved on, but lets start with the positives.Number one has to be the staff. These are a credit to the hotel and take pride in their work, being polite and civil at all times, even when being verbally abused [as we witnessed] by some fellow Eastern Europeans.I would like to single out our room boy, who went that extra mile to ensure our comfort and is a credit to the hotel, and to the infinity barman, his smiling face brightened our day everyday. The hotel, whilst some fixtures being a little jaded in the rooms, was spotlessly clean, with clean crisp bedlinen and luxurious towels and the grounds are stunningly beautiful. The reef is out of this world and we spent at least two hours every day snorkeling, just in awe of what we were seeing.Whilst not participating, the animation team worked hard and there was plenty of activities to take part in.Food, our only average area, the breads were many and varied and very good, but whilst there being plenty of food, it does seem to be a limited variation on the same dishes, and often the few different dishes offered run 'out' very early in the evening. Also some dishes were only warm, rather than being hot, but then some dishes were piping hot, attention to the warming burners would help with this.More staff clearing the tables at busy times would make for a quicker turn round time, and the lanterns being refilled and relit would help the ambiance of the delightful outside patio if you chose to eat later. An option to eat one of your evening meals in the A La Carte restaurant would be a welcome option.Rooms are large, airy and very clean, with large balconies, and ours had a wonderful seaview, which I loved as I wake early, so put one of the armchairs out there and read until my husband woke. The English are in the minority, but certainly not overlooked or left out, and we had some great conversations, finding mutual ground through limited language and hand gestures, but conversations about football are the same in any language!!Location of the hotel was ideal for us as it stands away from the hustle and bustle of the busier tourist resorts, but this could be a problem for some, and being a smaller hotel it does lack some of the offerings from the mega hotels that you need a shuttle bus to get around.Would we return or recommend this hotel.............yes. For the money we paid, we were more than happy, it was exactly what we expected, and exceeded our expectations in many areas.

Absolutely Wonderful Holiday
We have just returned from two weeks at the Melia Sinai (7th to 21st February). From start to finish our holiday was wonderful. The staff were fantastic from the waiters to bar staff to our lovely man who did the smoothies on the beach and the great chaps who walked our towels to our sunbeds everyday. The food was plentiful and varied (we are vegetarian) and there was loads of everything we eat. As for the comments from some guests that anything was dirty at all is absolute rubbish. The staff were constantly cleaning the whole time we were there. We were the only English people there at the end of our holiday and mostly the other guests were Russian. Yes there were some awfully rude ones, but equally we met some really fun Russians and had a laugh with them. Also met some delightful German and Italian people. The quality of the drinks was also excellent, and some great cocktails. Have been to some hotels in Sharm when the spirits in particular were not good.We took advantage of the Spa and my partner had five massages - they were so good, plus haircut, which was the best he had had. I have the body scrub; great and your skin feels like velvet. Also took a boat trip which was great, but mainly we were there to relax and enjoy and we did not leave the hotel. We enjoyed ourselves so much, that I am now pricing up another holiday there for possibly May if we can manage it. Roll on xx
