A truly grand hotel
There are so many good things to say about this hotel ,that I hope I cover them allThe decor and ambience are exquisite.The view from our room overlooks lago di castello gondolfo and the summer palace of the pope.The rooms were immaculate and well appointed. The breakfast was superb. the staff was outstanding and urbane. When we arrived early for check in,the staff went out of their way to make sure our rooms were ready. On a rainy night, the reception staff member came out to escort me into the hotel with an umbrella. It was like something from a movie.It was near a train station to Rome which we used several times.

Grand hotel at the price of a B&B
It's a great location to visit the Albano lake. The roons are enormous, superbly decorated, very well equipped. Breakfast is sumptuous. Walter, the receptionist, was outstanding, offering a caring service and spared no effort to make our stay pleasant. A lovely pool is a great bonus.

Great Hotel, Great Location, what a lake!
My girlfriend & i stayed here for one night while travelling around Italy, we wish we had stayed for longer! This is a beautiful place, with the lake as the centrepiece, we wish we had time to go to Castel Gandulfo. We got a train to Marino from Rome (35 mins) and when we arrived I didn't have any luck with the Taxi numbers advertised there, so i called the hotel and they ordered us a taxi for 10 minutes time, only a ¿¿¿10 fare, very helpful. When we arrived you could see the spectacular view through the trees. The staff were very helpful staff, the lady on reception even cooked us an excellent pizza and focaccia in the evening, and brought it to our room, as the restaurant was closed. We were recommended, by on of the guys on reception, to go to Boncaffe Bondolfi, I have to say this was one of the highlights of our entire trip! We walked down to the lake, down the steep roads (only approx 15-20 mins form the hotel by foot), had an ice cream and walked back up, to stop at Boncaffe Bondolfi for a glass of wine. I asked for some olives, uncertain as i wanted a bit more of a snack, so the lovely lady suggested that she make us some bruschetta etc...and WOW! We sat in the sun, on her terrace, overlooking the lake, with excellent wine, she then proceeded to come out with 3 different platters of fresh & homemade delicious nibbles, we ended up having a bottle and staying there for hours, highly recommended!! Back to the hotel, unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open, and the pool was being repaired, so i recommend calling them to check, but this didn't detract from the quality of our stay, the rooms were very well furnished, truly 4 star (which is rare in Italy, based on UK standards).

Good 4 Star hotel in Castelli Romani area south of Rome
We stayed here for one night in March during our travels in the Castelli Romani., The room was large, overlooking the pool (which was not open), wifi, fridge, strange long and narrow bathroom with shower, large parking area, no restaurant, and breakfast in the room. The people at the front desk were very friendly. The "lakeside" rooms overlook the street and parking on top of the opposite building, so we assume that you need a high room to actually see the view of the lake. Breakfast was coffee, juice, hard boiled eggs, cheese, rools, croissants. It may have been served in the room because we were off season and there were few visitors. The hotel is a bit hard to find, although there was a big sign at the messy intersection/traffic light where 216 and 217 intersect. It was within easy driving distance to restaurants in Marino and Castel Gondolfo, but walking would be a problem due to traffic and few sidewalks.

Quite nice but could be better
This hotel is in the countryside, about a mile walk to the nearest town of Marino (worth a visit)We arrived mid morning, and were surprised to be welcomed very charmingly by the gentleman at reception, and shown to our room. We had a HUGE room overlooking Rome in the distance, it was extremely clean and comfortable, the decor was a bit dark, but quite acceptable. There is a mini bar although the prices are on the high side.It was too late in the year to use the pool, but the area looked really nice, with covered seating and tables which are obviously in use during warmer months. There is plenty of free car parking, and free wifi, for which you get a card from reception.The hotel has comfortable seating areas in the public rooms, and is warm and hospitable.Buffet breakfast in a very pleasant breakfast room, with a good choice of food and drinks. Now for the downside, NO RESTAURANT !!! We were shocked to be told when we tried to book Dinner, that the restaurant is only open in the evenings during busy periods. Given that we were some distance from town I found this quite disappointing, as it meant either driving (no pre dinner drinks or wine then !) or walking down narrow, unlit roads (no pavement for part of the way) to one of the couple of places within a short walk (10 minutes) This was unexpected as we had hoped to have relaxed dinners at the hotel. The lake which the hotel overlooks is also a drive away, what is not made clear on the website is that the hotel is on top of a very steep hill with the lake at the bottom, however the views are fantastic. When you do visit the lake the whole area is pay and display to park. There are some nice restaurants and a water sport area. I would recommend this lovely hotel, but the lack of a restaurant should be addressed.
