Value for money but needs a facelift
We stayed for one night at the Huntly Arms Hotel, which was ok for the money we paid. It is charming looking from the outside, but really tired looking on the inside. It's well overdue a facelift, and could do with a fair bit of money spent to bring it up to the 21st century. The bed was on the soft side, and the floorboards very creaky. Having said that, our room was clean and warm. Breakfast was served in the grill room, cereals, toast, full Scottish, waffles were on offer. I can recommend the waffles and maple syrup - a great sugar rush before a busy day of walking.Didn't get a very good nights sleep as there was a disco in the Tavern Bar which blared out until midnight. The walls were paper thin, I could hear every cough, sneeze, and lower bodily functions from the room next door.Location wise it was perfect for where we wanted to be, but would not stay again.

Never again
Ok its a old building but u could make it nice for your guests the rooms are in need of a make over u would be better sleeping in your car than on the cardboard mattress and as for the freeview its only a couple of channels and the tv is out of the arch 1960 portable without a remote

Three Star!
Stayed two nights on business trip to Aberdeen.I think visitors to this establishment should bear in mind it is supposed to be three star as opposed to four or five star! However having said that the building is old and definitely needs some investment to keep its star rating. The room I had was tired looking with splits in the wallpaper, the en-suite was small with not a lot of room to manoeuvre. I travelled on my own which was just as well as the room would have been a tight squeeze with two people.

Not good
We stayed for a night recently and have to be honest its a dingy place that very much needs some cash spent on it.We reserved a room in February at ¿¿120 for the room (we had no other option available) but when the misses checked late rooms a week before our stay, we got it for ¿¿60 and thakfully managed to cancel the previous booking. If I had paid ¿¿120, the staff would have heard my grumpy voice. We did get a very polite welcome from the young lady at reception who checked us in, however that was the highlight. On entering our (pretty small) room the smell of urine was overpowering. I was happy to soldier on and not make a fuss so opened the window, put the blow heater on (the main one didn't work) and emtied a can of deoderant. When I closed the window prior to going out I realised the window didn't lock and could simply be opened (always at the back of my mind when we were out of the room). The place is generally a bit shabby and no better than a 1 or 2 star.
