The walls are thin (r-e-a-l-l-y thin) between all the rooms in the hotel, so bring ear plugs. The rooms have carpeted floors which, at the time of our one night stay, did not appear to have been deep cleaned in a very long time, so bring travel slippers. Breakfast in the little restaurant was barely competent and the coffee was poor. An inexpensive night for sure, but you only barely get what you pay for. The cheerful, informative desk staff speak several languages quite well, so don't be afraid to ask for services, directions or any other kind of help or information. The best reason to book a room at this hotel is its location barely 10 minutes walk from the walled, old medieval inner town of Viterbo - which is the main reason to visit and explore Viterbo in the first place.

When i stayed here 10 years ago this was a great hotel. Now it is old and tired. While not dirty it is in need of basic improvements. The air conditioning system in the rooms is worthless (unless you are in reception)....it was cooler to open my window than use the hotels sauna air conditioner. I have also recently stayed at the Best Western Viterbo. It is newer and everything works! I will not be selecting the Balletti next time.

When I booked my single room for 60 euro in the off season, I was expecting something quite basic, small and tidy. In Tuscany, that's what I would have received, but here in Northern Lazio, things are a little more generous in the room department. The room was very large, with a full double bed, writing desk, seating and a coffee table. There was a safe in each room and the bathroom, though reasonably basic, was quite decently sized and appointed. The decor is a little retro, but the linens and room were clean and comfortable and the television had several English-speaking and German channels in addition to the usual set. It's brilliantly located for the train, a couple of minutes down a one-way street (the cars seem to rush past, but it is quite safe). There is also a major bus stop just past the train station, and one of the main old city gates less than five minutes from the hotel door. The major bus terminus is a ten minute walk away, or you can catch one of the many city buses across the top of the old town to make it a three or four minute trip.Breakfasts were cold for the most part, but very good for the meat eater, and with a generous amount of fruit, cereal, bread and pastries for vegetarians. There is a small hotel next door for dinner, which was entirely decent, but unless you are exhausted or the weather awful, it's worth walking into town where the choice is far broader.The staff were generally very helpful and friendly, with a couple being stand-outs -- I found myself singing along to a Mika song with one of the chaps at the front desk while he checked the buses to Montefiascone for me. The same chap was very professional and businesslike when dealing with more serious guests, so there was no unwelcome familiarity, and as a lone female traveller I felt perfectly comfortable. Most of the guests are Italian, so if you have no Italian, you may need to wait for some of the more bilingual staff at the front desk (outside of peak hours they may not always be on the desk itself), but even with my quite bad Italian, I had no problems at all. This hotel was a very pleasant surprise as I had expected little more than a place to rest my head after days adventuring in this beautiful region.

Stayed for one night during a driving tour of europe.Once found, I found this to be a nice relaxing hotel, close to the centre with modern rooms. Breakfast was very good. Nothing hot bar the coffee, but nice cakes and pastries. Slept well.Oh, and check out the mini bar. One of the cheapest I've ever seen, ever.
