Just back from a 3 day stay, the hotel was nice and clean, clean towels everyday. the room was very basic, no kettle or fridge, twin beds, view to the other side of the hotel. Staff were ok. Food was a bit on the cold side, we were all inclusive, but the drinks were not included, only at breakfast time you could have a fruit juice or tea/coffee. Be warned that government over there has introduced a tax, and we got charged 1 euro per day.

I travelled solo to Pineda de Mar for 3 nights. The rooms are small and basic, but comfortable and cleaned daily. Some rooms have air con, some not. The room I stayed in faced inward and stayed cool all day, so I shouldn't think there was a need for air con in all the rooms. I arrived on 7th May so the nights were still a little chilly. The staff went out of their way to find me a heater and an extra blanket. The meals were all served as a buffet, good basic, wholesome food, nothing gourmet. The only problem I had was with one member of the dining room staff who was rigid about the rule of not bringing your own drinks to the table, including water I had just bought at the bar!! He was the exception, and relented when I said I wanted to talk to the manager about it, all the other staff were friendly and extremely helpful. You can't judge a place by one jobsworth! It's a nice little hotel as a base to explore. Close to shops, 10 minutes fron the beach and station. I will certainly stay there again. I was very inpressed with the staff, the two main front of house staff between them speak English, French, German and Polish which is pretty impressive. The lobby is more 4 star than 2 star. There are two bars, one on ground floor and one on the roof terrace. The hotel has a games room and a disco for hotel guest only (only in high season) and a lounge aera where you can just chill out. The reception staff are very knowledgeable about local attractions and those further afield and will supply you with a local map and directions. There is the usual Tren that goes around the resort (in this case called Xeno Xano) or you can hire bicycles or push scooters close to the beach. (ask at the hotel). You get a lot more than you would expect for your money when you stay here. Good value all round.

My partner and I stayed at the Merce hotel last May for four nights. What a wonderful place. The pool is on the rooftop overlooking beautiful scenery. Lovely sun terraces and outside eatery/bar. The food was good and the staff was very helpful. The place is spotless. The rooms are very clean and you have clean towels every day. I loved our stay and we are returning on the 13th May for five nights this time. The area is lovely and there is a nice square with lovely little shops with lots of bargains. We spent a day in Barcelona sightseeing. This year we intend to take advantage of the hotel trip to Barcelona as we did not get to see all we wanted to see. At this time of year it can be a bit quiet (re entertainment at hotel) but we asked the Manager if it was possible to have a little entertainment as we wished to stay in the hotel at night because it was so nice. He was very obliging and one night we had flamenco dancing and another a singer with disco as well. Most friendly people I have met when travelling. They were very accommadating, hence our return. Book through Travel Republic extremely reasonable with late deals and they get the cheapest flights.

I was looking for for a inexpensive getaway hotel, I was,easantly surprised. The rooms were clean,breakfast was great,full English .staff friendly and very helpful. I will return,very good stay .I recommend it

Nice budget hotel. Clean rooms and linen changed regularly. Dining room vey busy for breakfast, bit of a bun fight! Lots of students in an organised party stayed when we were there and they did tend to take the place over. It didn't spoil it too much however. Great position looking out on medaevil church. Pineda de Mar just beautiful! Lovely little Spanish seaside resort with little squares,locals friendly.Also easy and cheap train access to Barcelona. All in all for a cheap and cheerful budget hotel Hotel Merce is good.
