Beautiful location, some nice touches ... let down by very poor food
This was our 3rd visit to Dahab, the two previous holidays being windsurfing with Neilson, staying next door at what is now the Ibis Styles Dahab Lagoon (previously the Coralia ¿¿¿ which I will refer to as the new name doesn¿¿¿t exactly trip off the tongue). We would have happily gone back to the Coralia, but couldn¿¿¿t find it as we hadn¿¿¿t known of the name change. However, as we were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary, we decided we would try the 5 star Dahab Hilton, on an all inclusive basis as a special treat. The short story is, we would choose the 3 star Ibis Styles Dahab Lagoon every time over the 5 star Hilton Dahab. The rooms at the Dahab Hilton are nice, clean, large and well equipped with two king size, comfortable beds with quilt and equipped with items like a kettle and coffee/tea (but no milk is provided!), iron/ironing board, fridge, bathrobe and slippers etc. They compare very favourably with the Coralia which are much smaller and not as well equipped ¿¿¿ but how much time do you spend in your room? The balconies at the Hilton Dahab are very large, but as they all have a roof they are in permanent shade, so we hardly used it ¿¿¿ this was a massive disappointment as I love sitting on the balcony in the early morning and late afternoon. Some balconies have a hammock, but the rooms looked to be the same as ours, so not sure if you had to pay more for a room with a hammock or simply had to ask for one.Although we were on an all inclusive basis at the Hilton, it did not include anything in the mini-bar though a range of chocolate, crisps, peanuts and various drinks were tantalisingly displayed on the sideboard. This seems rather unfair and I can imagine it might cause a problem if you have young children with you.Upon check in, we were given some information about the hotel, and I read through further info in the room. As we were all inclusive, we had been taking drinks from the beach bar, having been told by the staff to ¿¿¿help ourselves¿¿¿ and only after a week did we find there was a charge for some of the drinks ¿¿¿ for example, draft beer is free, but there is a charge for bottled beer. As there was absolutely nothing at all written down to explain this in any documentation we were given at check in, in the room or at the beach bar, we had no idea and by the time we found out, we had unknowingly run up a bar bill of US$40 so we were not very pleased as it could easily have been avoided. So don¿¿¿t assume ¿¿¿all inclusive¿¿¿ includes everything and do check before you take anything from anywhere. We had a lovely holiday, but the main reason we would not go back to the Hilton Dahab is because the food is so bad. It may be a 5 star, but we have stopped in quite a few 3 star hotels in Egypt before and had much better food. The salads and veg at the Hilton Dahab were nice enough, but there was more bones than meat on the nightly chicken, the fish had a ¿¿¿muddy¿¿¿ taste and all food was often luke warm and under-cooked. I found the waiter service to be polite, but not particularly friendly and it was very slow indeed. Towards the end of the holiday, we skipped lunch and evening meal and ordered from the beach bar (admittedly a limited menu, but nonetheless good, hot, cooked food!). However, this is only available from 3pm to ¿¿¿sundown¿¿¿ ... it is worth noting the sun went down at 6pm but we were told they were closed when we went at 5.30pm one night! There is the facility for internet in the room ... however this is charged. Surely internet should be provided free (it certainly is at the Coralia, though only in the reception area). It is worth mentioning that you can get free internet at Club Mistral on the beach 24/7 even if you are not windsurfing ¿¿¿ they are such a friendly, cheerful let of people at Club Mistral and more than happy for anyone to use their internet facility. I accept this is not the Hotel¿¿¿s fault, but many of the clientele were noisy, intrusive and rude. There

Poor condition
Maybe I should not have expected that much but by "Hilton" I thought it would be better. The hotel is in a very poor condition. Lagoonas around the pool are dirty, all the pavements and bridges are demolished, lights during the night broken. I was affraid to let my 2 sons run around the hotel area as it was dangerous and easy to fall down. Steps broken, holes in the pavements, no lights... Food was monotonous and service kind of lazy :( The pool is very small and dirty. Some cleaning was done during the day (?). The only thing we enjoyed was windsurfing club Mistral at the beach.

Great weeks holiday
We have just returned from a great week in Dahab staying at the Hilton. With mixed reviews on trip advisor I was unsure what to expect but overall found the hotel to be great, with helpful friendly staff, great location, pretty good food and all in all I thought it represented very good value for money. Our room was clean, nicely positioned and the suite upgrade worthwhile.I think a lot of the negative reviews on here are from people that want a good deal but also have expectations that are unrealistic and they seem to see 5 stars and expect something of the quality of the Dorchester in London. It is not realistic to think you can pay between ¿¿700 to ¿¿900 per person to include your flights, transfers and then a weeks stay all inclusive and expect to get top end 5 star. It is though a very nice hotel probably comparable to a good 4 star in the UK.We have previously stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Sharm which was amazing but 3 times the cost person and B&B so you get what you pay for.We found the staff to be lovely once they realised we had some manners and would treat them with respect. Unfortunately there are a lot of guests from other parts of the world that do not treat them with respect. We would definitely go back to the Hilton.I would strongly recommend Dahab as well as a lovely chilled place to stay and would recommend both ALCAPONES RESTAURANT AND FRIENDS RESTAURANT.

Hilton Dahab = Hilton Disgrace
We arrived here on Monday for 8 nights and if we had not paid in advance I would be checking out today, I don't even know where to start, the reception staff were very pleasant as was the guy who took us to our room, also the man who tidies our room I cannot fault, sorry don't know his name never met him yet, to say the hotel is tired is an understatement, we have a Bay Suite which is the top room, the entrance door is not secure, either are the doors leaving to the patio area, one push and you could be in the room, the patio area has a hammock and a table with 2 chairs, the paint is peeling off the table, the arm of one chair is broken, the sofa in the sitting area, you cannot sit on for more than a few minutes without the fear of falling through onto the bed underneath the cushions, the bathroom is grubby and very old and ladies bring your own hair dryer, as the one the Hilton provide looks like an elephants trunk and I can blow faster than the power it provides, now for the Hotel itself and its staff (as the previous reviewer stated) they are not interested, no management control and you are treated as a nuisance, everywhere you look, something needs repaired, the lagoon is full of green Algae and yellow caution tape in places making it look like a crime scene, broken tiles are everywhere, it's just a mess, now I personally prefer the swimming pool to the sea, now in picture 3 on the photos above there is a pool bar I have since reported this to trip advisor as this does not exist, nor does the towel hut which is there and no service whatsoever is given to this area, they have little boxes with menu cards in that if you place upside down, a bar person will come and take your order, mine has been underside down since Monday!!! To obtain a drink you have to go to the beach pool, where this is manned by approx 4 staff, one who walks around with a order pad, one girl yesterday babysitting a guests baby and two others that are far to busy taking orders from the beach to serve you and just ignore you, and watching the hygiene down there, all I can say is use a straw if using their plastic cups as in my eyes washing a cup out under cold running water with their fingers is disgusting. Breakfast you will not be greeted with a good morning, just a table pointed out for you, and 2 chipped cups put down for you to drink out of ! Food is just acceptable - lunch is stated as being served in the Neptune bar from 12.30, however yesterday I was just told "Not open Mirage" no explanation why, just not open, also note not one of the restaurants have air conditioning, they might have but they obviously prefer the windows open, so the birds as well as the flies can share your meal, yesterday I witnessed 2 birds sitting on top of 2 burgers pecking at it and flying off with the bits of bun and chips unknown the receiving guests, waiting at the bar last night for 10 minutes while the barman was on the telephone to his manager, why he couldn't tell his manager he had guests waiting to be served or his manager come to the bar to speak to him is obviously something that doesn't happen here, I asked for fries yesterday but after waiting 20 minutes i just give up, along with some water as the bar boy with the pad had the keys !!!! Last night asked tor some ice, told no, ice machine is broke, this morning asked for 4 towels but was told i could only have 2 as he had ran out as the hotel was full, this is not my problem, all the staff are at the speed of slow and if they are not on their mobiles phones, they are busy doing nothing, there just doesn't seem to be any management behind them, as a Gold Member I use Hilton hotels very often but for this hotel to have the Hilton name in their title it's a disgrace, I have been to Egypt 5 times now and always stayed at Hilton hotels however this will be my first and last time with them in Dahab, also for people reading this it usually takes me weeks to write a review after a holiday but I'm so insulted and an
