Lovely Hotel, Amazing Staff!
Firstly I want to say I¿¿¿m really sad to see that there are some recent reviews on here that say they received bad service at Grand Rotana¿¿¿ that¿¿¿s a real shame as it was the service that made our holiday an excellent one!My family and I stayed at the Grand Rotana All Inclusive from 7th May to 14th May, there were 6 Adults and 2 children under 3.We all stayed in Club rooms, we had 1 Club Suite and 2 Club Rooms. Having a club room enabled us to have access to the Club Lounge.I would recommend having a club room so you can use the Club Lounge!!In the Club Lounge you get¿¿¿¿¿¿ Free transfers from the Airport to the Club LoungeCheck in at the Club LoungeA welcome drinkBreakfast from 7 to 10.30Afternoon Tea and CakesSnacks and Free Drinks (including Alcohol) from 6 to 8Free WifiWe opted for All inclusive but I probably would do this next time as I¿¿¿m not a big drinker and I¿¿¿m never a fan of hotel buffets¿¿¿ plus the food and drink offered in the Club Lounge was usually more than enough for us.RoomsThe Club rooms we had were all spacious with a stunning sea view, the beds are massive and you get slippers, robes, plenty of towels, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion, soap (in the Club suite we had l'occitane products which were stunning!) free safe, WIFI access (at a charge) Mini Bar (at a reasonable charge) the rooms were cleaned everyday to a very high standard, balconies have tables, chairs and beds, if you have a ground floor room you will get a terrace and lawn which is really really nice!PoolThe hotels has a lovely big pool, with a heated area for the kids, plus an adult only infinity pool (look out for the Russians taking photos of themselves in all sorts of interesting poses!!) ¿¿¿, and a separate kids pool with play area and kids club. The main pool has a swim up bar as well as a walk up bar in the middle ¿¿¿ try the Strawberry daiquiri (if you like your drinks strong tip your bar man and your drinks will blow your head off for the rest of your holiday!)There are plenty of sunbeds around the pool, we got chatting to one of the pool attendants who saved us 6 sunbeds under a cabana every day!! We tipped him ¿¿20 at the beginning of the holiday and ¿¿10 at the end as he really was great! Without this we would have struggled to get sunbed all together (although the attendants will search for beds for you and put them together if you cant find beds)You are given pool towels every day which you can change at any time.RestaurantsThe main restaurant is Ramses this is a buffet which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, I went to breakfast there once and didn¿¿¿t go again, the queues for the eggs was too long and when you get to the front a Russian will probably push in front of you, plus its very busy¿¿¿ the club lounge was much much nicer!Lunch and dinner was ok there, I felt that the food was more for the Russians rather than British but I could usually find something (pasta, salad, hummus, meat) Between 11-1 and 3-5 food can be ordered from the Italian on all inclusive, this is usually hot dogs, chicken burgers, toasted sandwiches¿¿¿ so we didn¿¿¿t go hungry (also lovely ice cream from 3-5)If you want to go to one of the other 3 restaurants on site there is a $15 surcharge and not everything on the menu is available for you to order¿¿¿ its slightly confusing but we just ordered what we wanted and paid the extra ¿¿¿ all 3 of the restaurants were really lovely! Make sure you book in advance as they can only do 20 covers every half hour so you might be turned away if you just turn up.StaffWe found all the staff at the hotel to be very very nice, nothing was ever too much, Hady and Rada in the club lounge were great and made sure our stay was the best it could be!These guys work long hours and go for months at a time without a day off, the pay is extremely low but they keep a smile on their faces and are always willing to go that extra mile, they do rely on tips but don¿¿¿t expect them.My tips for staying at the Grand R

wonderful holiday & hotel :)
Hello Everyone. I read so many reviews on the Grand Rotana before I visited Sharm el Sheikh that I thought its only fair that I write a review back. hopefully my review will be of great help to someone considering staying there. Me and my husband spent 5 nights at the Grand Rotana. We arrived around 7pm on the first evening and wow the lights and decor they have leading up to the hotel is quite a sight. We did go in December 2012 though so because of christmas and new years they had made an extra effort but it was quite impressive. As we parked up at our hotel there wasn't any staff around to welcome us in or open the doors for us, which was a little dissapointing as being called a 5-star hotel little efforts like these enable its position as a 5-star. We went in to the main reception where we met the very friendly manager Ahmed( through out our stay he always made sure to ask if everything was ok when he saw us). We were told that we would be staying at the club rotana which is the VIP area for customers who will be staying in a club rotana Suite. A lovely Golf buggy then escorted as to the club rotana lobby - ( which is the only place in the hotel that has free fast wifi and lots of comfy seating area). On arrival we were presented with a small mango and strawberry juice/smoothie. The lady explained all the details to us about their schedule and other relevant information we would need to know and we were then shown to our room. The room was really nice! very clean and spacious and the view from the balcony was so beautiful. you could overlook the hotel pool but the main attraction was the sea. there was a cosy king size bed a good size bathroom, and joint with the room was a living room and another bathroom on the other side. lots of furtniture and areas to just relax. both rooms has large screen TV's and fox movies played quite a few good films whilst we were there. the whole resort is actually quite breathtaking. surrounded with palm trees, a very large pool area, quite a few bars around the resort. the palms bar is so lovely. we didnt try the food there as we do not eat sea food, but we grabbed a drink and sat by the sea. we also used to go up to the skybar which is free drinks for people under the all inclusive. however be warned. there is a difference between all inclusive and ultra all inclusive. there are 3 resteraunts there - silk road (chineese and Indian) and mezzaluna (Italian) which they give you vouchers for so you can eat at them for free once, however u have to pay there after. Ramses is the free resteraunt in which you can eat everyday for breakfast/lunch/dinner. There is a large selection of food, but not great for vegeterians. We never went hungry, but the actual quality of food wasn¿¿¿t great. The restaurants are actually quite nice and overall food was good. But not excellent. Staying in a suite at the club rotana ment we had a couple of extra incentives such as Canap¿¿ hour and tea time. they served lovely little bites during canapes which was around 6ish, and though they called it tea time at 4pm - beverages were always available even on request. We did 2 excursions, a half submarine underwater trip and quad riding. We are not great swimmers or into water sports or snorkelling ¿¿¿ which Egypt is fantanstic for ¿¿¿ but both excursions we done were really good and me and my husband had a wonderful time. The bikes were available however we chose to sit together and drove a quad jeep which was better/safer and so much fun. We visited Naama bay one evening - the hotel provides free shuttle buses there that allow u to spend 2 hours there. Trust me its enough. There are a lot of shisha places, mini (weird) outdoor clubs, and lots of souvenir shops. They haggle you so much literally the whole time your there they want you to buy off them, but you need to know how to stand your ground and just walk on. Still is worth a look get to see the real sharm el sheikh, and the only place where they have Mcdonalds, Pizza h

Terrible Service.
We recently stayed for 2 weeks directly after Easter with our two children.Rooms:-We originally booked garden view rooms however upon arrival we found that all garden view rooms are situated at the front of the hotel with the main access road running straight through them - potentially very noisy. We upgraded to Grand Dulux rooms on the top floor of block 6. The rooms were both clean and well sized with a wonderful view over the pool and sea. The only problem being, that as all the hotels rooms have external corridors they can be quite noisy, block 6 backs directly on to the entrance of another hotel so we were continually woken by coaches picking up and dropping off throughout the night. Wasn't too fussed about this, covering the door with cushions from the balcony sofa resolved it. Whilst this dealt with the coach noise it did nothing at all to dampen the noise of the next door hotel's animation which went on in to the early hours every other night. The night manager confirmed this was a common problem and moved us in to so called premium rooms in block 2 facing directly on to the beach, the room was not as good as the grand deluxe! Only stayed in this room for 1 night as it backed on to the disco. For some reason the hotel considered it acceptable to leave the doors to the disco wide open at 1 o'clock in the morning with music blaring out. Finally ended the holiday in a room at the far end of block 1 - which was superb. It¿¿¿s worth popping back to your room half an hour or so before you leave the pool/ beach as this gives you the opportunity to remind someone that your room hasn¿¿¿t been serviced. Generally there is an acceptable low standard set for guests convenience and comfort.Meals:-We arrived early evening and ate in Ramses, the only place to eat free if you are all inclusive; the food was at best adequate. Service at Breakfast the following morning was dreadful, the staff were only interested in getting your room number, after this you're left to fend for yourself in a large dining hall full of dirty messy tables, the game is to find the cleanest table you could and then get someone to clean it and re-lay it for you. If you expect someone to ask you if you want tea or coffee don't waste your time. This was not a one off experience it was repeated every day for 14 days - Absolutely AWFUL. As we couldn¿¿¿t bear the thought of eating in Ramses for lunch and dinner we had upgraded to Ultra all inclusive by lunch time the first day. UAI allows you to eat at Mezzaluna and Palms Bar & Grill for lunch and dinner and Silk Road for dinner. Our first attempt at Palms we were served starters and main courses at the same time ¿¿¿ quite amusing really! For about 75% of the time we ate at Mezzaluna, which had a good Italian menu and was the only place in the entire hotel that came close to 5* service - Top marks and a big thank you to Malik and team! It is worth noting that if you book all inclusive you can only get a drink in the evening at Ramses or the sky bar, so unless you fancy spending your time in a school dining hall you¿¿¿re stuck with the sky bar and the extremely rude staff that work in it. A word of caution:- if you see a couple of large empty tables in the bar with a small bottle of water on them do NOT sit anywhere near them . If you do a bar man will promptly shout at you indicating in poor English that you are extremely stupid for not recognising the world renowned custom of reserving tables for those who tip you well - all others be dammed!GeneralThe grounds are superb and the hotel is generally very clean and tidy except for the ladies toilets, my 8 year old daughter emerged from one in tears as the smell was so bad and my wife refused to use them. The all-male staff do not pay the ladies conveniences the same attention as the males. The pool staff are pleasant and attentive. The hotel does not have its own animation team, instead it gives free reign to an Italian tour company to use the public address

Very poor customer service NOT***** 5 star
At best i would give this Hotel 2/3 star because of the service level. very poor.... only a hand full of staff were exceptional. shame coz the hotel has really nice parts to it.Arrival:on arrival the private taxi dropped us off, we had to unload the luggage our self as there was no door man present. we then waited approximately 5 mins in the hope that some one would escort us to the reception and help with luggage. After 5mins my wife carrying my 13 month old daughter walk into the reception and asked for help at, she was told to go back outside and wait some one will be there shortly.......(Unbelievable).Check in:after check in, we were then escorted to our room which was on the 5th floor (no lift). From reception was two floors up and had to clime the stairs. (this is a 5star resort with only one lift in the entire hotel, which is not easily accessible).Room service:spent ¿¿40 GBP on diner which arrived Luke warm and very bland. I wouldn't say it was disgusting but maybe if it was hot we would have finished it.8 nights stay and most of the time we ordered room service the food was just Luke warm.most of the staff don't speak English very well and is a quite difficult communicating.Ramses restaurant: breakfastsorry to say but out of all the hotel/resorts we've been to, this is by far the worst. Every morning same food very bland. only the fruit juice was nice and the fried egg. also every time we ordered tea it arrived without a tea spoon and had to keep on asking for one ?????on our 3rd day we went out of the hotel for day trip, on arriving back to the hotel i was pushing my daughter on her buggy, came to the door again no one there to greet or help.....only to my shock one guy was sitting on the table texting/playing with his mobile phone and did not bother to get up and help with the door......this was just so shocking for a 5* resort. (later on i found out he was hotel security, still that's no excuse) check out:the guy that was serving me was actually serving two other people at the same and was quite difficult gaining his attention: very pooroverall the staff are not at all customer focused only a few are exceptional to name a few: Ehsan concierge, Ayman room cleaner, The two big fellas at the Gym, The water sports guys all of then brilliant friendly and kind. one waiter at the palm grill sorry didn't get his name.......and that's all, what a shame so called 5 star resort robbed us of what should have been a great holiday.....once we returned to the UK i received an email asking for feed back. i wrote back everything i wrote above and its been nearly 2 weeks no reply, not even a sorry we will make it up to you next time ...... :(

Nothing needed for a vacation that they don't have
This was my second visit to this amazing hotel this year. And both experiences were up to the same execelent standard. At this hotel, it is very clear that all staff KNOW how to treat and deal with a guest in a very welcoming, helpful and pro manner. They have an amazing landscape and greens are very well kept. Big swimming pool with a nice water slide. nice clean & relaxing pool seats. And the Gaccuzi ....oh my .... It is an out door one overlooking from a great height the red sea. This was the peak of my relaxation . . . this was were i didn't want this vacation to end :(. Food is extrememly special, breakfast had a wide selection of everything, dinner as well was very nice.I stayed at the deluxe rooms overlooking the sea with a front garden. Rooms have a modern style, very clean, comforting and well equiped.About the Zen spa, I tried a couple massage with my wife, it was our first one, but it was really relaxing, pro Thai girls and puts u in a very different mode. unforgetable one. The location of the hotel is not of a waking distance from any attractions in sharm like Naema bay or old market, but hotel has a shuttle or call a limo from hotel. This hotel was really a great vacation experience and don't hesitate to go if u need relaxation and fun.To management: u r doin a gr8 job guys, plz keep it up.
