Nice place, excellent staff.
Every two months or so I travel to Grottaferrata for business. I've tried some other hotels in this small town, but this one is by far the best. The rooms are clean, the beds are ok and the prices are competitive, but what singles this place out is the staff.... they will go a long way to comfort all your needs. It feels like coming home after a long flight, defenitely recommended.

Tutto multo bellissimo ~ a wonderful base for exploring Rome and the Alban Hills.
I enjoyed my stay at Grand Holtel Villa Fiorio in most every way. Grottaferratta & Frascati are wonderful towns to come back to after exploring Rome for the day, or even as far as Orvieto. The morning breakfast provides a very good start to a busy day of touristic ventures. I enjoyed breakfast on their pool patio, and even though the water was a chilly refreshing, in part due to the fact that it was but the middle of June, it was a wonderful way to relax, refresh and rejuvenate mid day during the siesta hours. I became quite enchanted with Grottaferratta and even more so with the town of Frascati ~ I would definitely return to Grand Hotel Villa Fiorio again. The service from a delightful morning breakfast, informative and helpful front desk staff, to a room that was airy and clean made this for a wonderful base for three nights.

Great staff, quaint property
Pros: front desk staff went above and beyond for us as we had unexpected business matters we needed to attend to and they scanned, copied and faxed for us without hesitation. They also recommended great restaurants and helped us with our lost luggage debacle which took two painful days to resolve (may you rot in travelers hell dastardly Easy Jet). We had a large, comfortable, quiet room with charming antiques, a full size balcony, working air, speedy & reliable wifi internet, and a modern TV. The breakfast is sufficient - typical European fare; pastries, cheese, yogurt & usually one to two freshly made tarts or other baked items. If you have a car, the hotel is centrally located next to two nearby towns. If we happened to be back in the area, we'd stay for one or two nights (may look for more of an isolated resort if staying longer). Concessions: yes, this property is a bit dated and isn't the gem it once was - the grounds are small and not a proper park by any means. Our shower/bath was typical mid-to-lower range Italian: a handheld hose without shower walls, and the pipes outside the bathtub leaked copiously flooding part of the floor throughout our stay but the room was clean. We saw only 3-4 other guests the entire time we were there which was fine with us as we were looking for peace and quiet however, it could come across as too quiet for some. Parking is along a public road next to the hotel. Overall, the courtesy and helpfulness of the staff and the location would warrant another stay from us if we ever happen to be back in the area.

tired faded hotel wouldnt stay again
We stayed here 1 night just because of its proximity to Ciampino airport for a flight next day, thank goodness it was only 1 night...on the website and indeed in the brochures in the hotel it looks beautiful but i think this is an innaccurate picture of the hotel itself. Admittedly we were there mid october so out of season, but the hotel was shabby without the chic. We were told we had the "best room" on arrival, well if that was their best i dread to see the other rooms! Boasting "antique furniture and drapes" i think they were more junk shop than antique furnishings - i know i am might sound snobby but for a hotel which is rated 4* i dont expect fake plastic grapes in the room, grubby nets hanging off the rail in a depressing dimly lit bathroom and plastic covered artificial cheese being offered for breakfast, which was the worst display i have ever seen and didnt even bother to eat. I would say do not book this hotel if you like a good standard of accomodation - infact we found a beautiful place in Grottaferrata town centre called Locanda dello Spuntino which looked fabulous and had the best ever restaurant attached to it where we spent an amazing evening.

Looks pretty, but fairly rubbish.
We chose to stay at Villa Fiorio after deciding that staying in central Rome would perhaps be a little too hectic. Surrounded by it's own private 'park' (read: Garden with a few trees in it), the Villa is a 2.4km drive away from the town centre in preeeetty much the middle of nowhere, down a main road that doesn't look at all inviting to look around. We arrived and were told that our 3 bed room was on the 3rd (top) floor, and that we would have to carry our heavy suitcases up the stairs ourselves as there was no lift. Not ideal. The room was okay... Comprising of a double bed, a sofa bed (with only a sheet on top of it for warmth...I had to sleep under a towel), a TV with one English channel, various pieces of antique furniture and a fairly large bathroom with a bath and a shower hose (sit-down showers only in this room). The 'free' shuttle to and from the rail station leaves at 9am and 7.30pm. Unfortunately we found out that the 'shuttle' was intact just a normal taxi that we had to ring ourselves. We're not entirely up to scratch with our Italian, and after a few frustrating phone calls ended up just paying for a taxi from the rank outside the station. The restaurant was closed except for breakfast - this was not communicated to us on arrival (despite the rude female receptionist insisting she had told us when we checked in..she wasn't working that day), meaning that after paying ¿¿¿10 to get a taxi instead of being able to use the shuttle, we then had to spend a further ¿¿¿20 going back to the Frascati town centre to get some food - there are NO nearby restaurants. Brilliant. The pool is pretty dirty and the breakfast is very basic. However, if you squinted enough, the view from our room window of Rome really was lovely.**There is a male receptionist who is lovely and very accommodating, the female receptionist needs an attitude check** Currently still at the hotel, and overall feeling pretty let down by it.
