Lovely views across the sea. This hotel is currently being refurbished a bit at a time and the changes look great. It's slowly becoming a sophisticated and comfortable place to stay. I had a room at the back, so no view but none-the-less it was a decent size was a lovely modern bathroom. Water and biscuits in the room was a nice touch. We ate in the hotel and the roasted chicken was delicious. Great cooked breakfast in the morning. Friendly staff topped it off. I'll definitely stay again!

We love this hotel for a variety of reasons. It's in a wonderful location, across the street from the oceanfront boardwalk, and an easy stroll to great restaurants and public transportation. Our room was lovely; it was large, spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished, and had many unexpected amenities. Thoughtful details, such as plenty of outlets in convenient locations (like right next to the bed); a fantastic mattress (I think it was a Swedish Tempur-Pedic); loads of closet and drawer space; big, airy windows; a refrigerator; fluffy robes and slippers; yummy chocolates on the pillow; and best of all, an ah-mazing bathroom! The shower was enormous and fitted with a spectacular, waterfall shower head (and terrific water pressure!). Double sinks and delightful bath products made it a true "Wow" of a lavatory experience! We did not eat dinner at the hotel, but we had breakfast, which was included. Definitely one of the BEST hotel breakfasts we've ever sampled anywhere! The omelettes were scrumptious; the smoked salmon delicious; and the wait staff were charming and attentive. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, and plan to return to it often. It's truly excellent value for the price.

We were expecting a great deal more for our ¿¿197.00 per night accommodation. Arriving after 10.00 p.m we ordered room service as the bar was closed and already setting up for breakfast surrounding still fellow dinners. So no alternative but room service, My smoked salmon sandwich could have feed the seagulls of Douglas!! I think they are called "doorsteps"? All bread digging deep to find the salmon. Asking reception the following morning re were to go and see, I think I now know more than they do.... Told me the trams didn't run and wasn't sure when they did & tourist info opened at nine, try eight! Tourist info, out and turn right. All in all, very over priced. We will be returning to Douglas, beautiful island but not to the Claremont.

To be fair this hotel is undergoing some refurbishment but this doesn't affect your stay. You can start to see the improvements will work out upon completion and give a much cleaner modern look to the hotel. Reception is great, room a little better than you'd get at Premier Inn although some rooms are a long way from reception. The room I had (219) was fine however the view from all three windows was of a wall and/or fire escape. So if you're looking for a great sea view, which this hotel overlooks, I suggest you ask.The restaurant is good with a good buffet breakfast. I opted for the Full Isle of Man breakfast but disappointed: sausages pasty, bacon dry and cold, tea warm. Wasn't as good as it could have been. Obviously kept under a hot lamp to dry it out then left to cool down before serving. Also took about 15 minutes to deliver which would be fine if cooked fresh but can't imagine it was. I was in a rush so didn't have time to reorder.Only place I've stayed in Douglas, would stay again and give a second chance. Can't imagine this is the norm.

Excellent location - close to the ferry terminal, the bus station and the shops and overlooking the sea. The rooms are well furnished, the beds really comfortable and the staff genuinely want to please. The lounge is a good size, light and airy if a bit clinical. But management should check small details. In our room both bedroom lights were switched together so no chance of one reading in bed as the other slept. A good desk was in the darkest part of the room, but without a lamp. One morning a burnt kipper was served as well as toast that had barely seen the grill. Twin room, but only one set of toiletries. Get these sorted and it could be the best on the isle!
