Great location but stuck in the Stone Age!
On the upside - stunning location, spacious room with a view, clean. On the downside - uninterested, odd and frankly rude bar manager, poor service, disorganised staff, over priced food and drink, seriously delapidated 'leisure' facilities. I expected a lot better having stayed at other MacDonald Resorts. It seems they're not wanting to renovate this hotel because of where it is. It's a bit of a trek to get too but once here it's an amazing location. If it wasn't for the trade from the timeshares this hotel would probably not exist and how they can charge you the same prices for food and drink as in the other 4 and 5 star hotels in their chain is beyond me. The leisure facilities is a complete joke so if you're after a spa break like we were, do not come here! Pull the finger out, MacDonalds! This hotel has the potential to be a destination but I can see why it's currently rated as a 3 star.

Nostalgic return to an old friend

Very happy to see the old hotel still pristine which is testament to the quality of the housekeeping. Did note some of the goodies, i.e. free nibbles in the bar, were missing this time but the overall the stay was lovely.Snow in May wasn't expected but we found plenty to do in the hotel itself. Had a lovely room with lake view and ate in the bar area rather than the more formal restaurant. Food excellent, beer very good if a bit pricey.You need to be aware this area is one of the most remote parts of the country. Recommend train journey between Rannoch Station and Fort William.Will return.

Beautiful Location, Hotel Disappointing
Arrived very tired after a long drive from Skye. The hotel was in a beautiful location with excellent views along Loch Rannoch. The rooms were a nice size and the bed was large too, should have made for a good nights sleep. Sadly not. My room was surrounded by a wedding party on all sides, doors were left open and the party lasted for hours. After 11pm I called down to reception to ask that the noise level be reduced (I have a long drive the next day also). I can only presume that the staff member said something like 'the guest in room xx would like the noise level reduced' because from that point on there were knocks on the door and the phone rang a few times with no one on the other end. In the morning on check out I was asked if I enjoyed my stay, I explained what had happened but it fell on deaf ears, 'oh well, you should have called down', being the response. I explained that I had, 'oh well'. I was very disappointed.

firstly staff were friendly and hard working, but what they have to work with is very poor. the hotel diminishes the macdonald brand. No money has been spent on it at all, broken chairs in the bar and the restaurant. the rooms are a little better but still have huge clunking tv's. Dinner was average, all of our food was overcooked and the portions were very small. However, the breakfast was fantstic, great choice, great quality and beautifully cooked. i would love to go back as it is a great location so i hope they refurbish the place soon

Very Pleasent 1 night break
We stayed one night at Loch Ranoch hotel en route from ¿¿¿down South¿¿¿ to North Scotland and found this hotel a very nice place to stop over to break the drive. It was a little off route but the location and ¿¿¿deal¿¿¿ we got at the hotel made it well worth it. Our room was warm and comfortable despite the snow outside. Decor in our room was in good repair, if a little dated. The communal areas were wonderfully in keeping with the setting. The opportunity to have a swim and use of the steam room and sauna was great after been cooped up in the car all day. Food in restaurant seemed a little pricy so we ate in the bar. Food there was ¿¿¿fine¿¿¿ but nothing outstanding, but would eat there again. This hotel has wonderful views over the Loch so a front room was a real bonus. Staff were helpful & pleasant with one guy (sorry didn¿¿¿t get his name) who was exceptionally helpful and went to his own room to find me a safety pin, which was most appreciated.
