Myself, husband and dog Molly have just stayed at the Brook Whipper - In hotel.It was a Groupon Deal and it was excellent value for money!The ensuite room was basic - but clean and comfortable.With the deal we got a 3 course dinner and a bottle of wine - it was lovely.The breakfast was also brilliant - everything you could wish for.We hope to visit again!

A wonderful birthday present ruined by a money grabbing hotel. A night away with afternoon tea was booked through Super Breaks for two people. After driving for over four hours to the hotel we were informed it was full (we were not the only people this happened to). I asked Svetlana, I presumed to be the manageress, how could we not have a room when this had been booked AND PAID FOR weeks? Her reply was ¿¿¿you really don¿¿¿t want to know¿¿¿. I have since found out that the hotel informed Super Breaks and informed them to put an offer on and they continued to take bookings at a higher tariff. We didn¿¿¿t even get offered a drink before embarking on our four plus hours drive home. This hotel make Fawlty Towers look well organised

I booked an overnight stay with afternoon tea for my father and his partner for his 60th birthday through superbreak. The booking was paid for well in advance. After journeying for four hours my father was turned away as the hotel had been "over booked". Neither myself nor superbreaks had been informed that there had been a cancellation. When my father asked the manager why this was as the room had been paid for he was told "you don't want to know". I have logged a complaint with superbreak and am in the process of reporting them to Trading Standards as I have some concerns. Be warned!

Just got back from a two night stay at this hotel, will not be going back again the whole place needs a revamp the carpets in all areas need ripping up and a lot of the furniture needs dumping our bedroom had the biggest cobweb on the ceiling and the room was not very clean at all. We went for a drink in the bar when we got there but after waiting 15min for someone to come and serve us my husband went looking for a member of staff finally got served. Evening meal again one member of staff was trying to do everything the starter came out and was nice an hour later the main course came out again it was nice after another hour we gave up on dessert and went for a drink n the bar to find the very nice young lady who had served our dinner was also expected to man the bar felt quite sorry or her breakfast first morn was good and the service very good. We went out for dinner the second night and breakfast next morning was a joke dirty tables again one person trying to o everything oh well moan over as I said this hotel is one to miss!!!

We managed to get a very good deal of ¿¿89 through Groupon for Dinner bed and breakfast with a bottle of wine. It was good value for money. However when I rang to book the room I asked if we could upgrade from the standard that was in the deal, I was greeted by an extremely rude lady on the telephone. I explained that obviously I knew I would have to pay extra for the upgrade but she wouldn't even look at availability but instead said that we couldn't upgrade as they may sell the room to someone else. I understand I was getting a good deal through Groupon and so could see her point but she was that rude it made me worried about staying there. When we arrived we were in greeted in the same rude way. The lady on reception asked where we had parked and we explained we were outside, parked in the limited time bays. She grunted that it was up to us to check the times on that and they would not be responsible for the car. It was then that a guest over heard and informed us that the hotel actually has its own carpark! The receptionist failed to tell us this. She overall was rude during the whole check in. The food was nice for the price we paid. It seemed to be pre bought food that was re-heated but it tasted nice. The thing that made the stay was the waiting staff in the evening and at breakfast. they were lovely and friendly. The hotel overall is very tired. In its day it would have been amazing however everywhere needs a good decorating. The wall paper is stained and the carpets tatty. People have previously said the floor boards are bad and they really are bad. I know its an old hotel however I am sure taking the carpet up and replacing some of the floorboards would help. The bed we had was sooooo lumpy, I had one of the worst nights sleep with the uncomfortable bed and the noise from everywhere. The walls are that thin that we could here the fan whirring around from the next bedroom!!! We also had a hand held shower which is ok when you have had a deal for the night but paying full price I would expect more. Overall I would say if you can stay here cheap and want to go to Rutland Water (which is gorgeous) then stay but don't pay full price to stay here! it isn't worth the money.
