Great Hotel
This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and we were not disappointed. From the minute we checked in the service was excellent. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the super king size bed very comfy. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent with lots of choice. We had dinner in the bar on both nights and there was a varied good quality menu reasonably priced.

April short break
DISLIKESNo choice of soup in fine dining and wood not serve bar soup, my wife does not like sea food, did not want sweetbreads so only choice was wood pigeon which was the same every night. Had the stake at ¿¿2.00 extra but it was only a 1/3 of a steak and nominal veg so left hungry. Have eaten a lot of high quality food so know the score. DID NOT eat 2nd night. Used Piasta on quay front. Same fine dining EVERY night. no shower cap or face flannels, room kettle VERY short cord had to put kettle on carpet to boil. asked for short extension which was promised but DID NOT arriveLIKESIdeal location on the promenade just far enough from the town centre to be quite. Good bar food, nice lounge (quite rare now), friendly staff. Room clean but basic. Would use it again.

Birthday treat
Booked the wife in for her birthday as we had previously stayed and the location is second to none. Superior rooms with a sea view are essential though, Oban Bay looks magnificent from the comfy armchair in the bay window of your room drink in hand. (Armchairs that we asked to be moved into the room from the hall swapping the smaller dining style chairs.....3 years previously and they were still there! Talk about leaving your mark, or acting on customer review!) Great staff, got breakfast in the room on request since it was a birthday and overall a great stay. It ties in nicely with the best seafood in the country and a nice trip up north by road or rail. We'll be back. Again.

Business trip stay
First impressions- lovely outlook as its right by the sea, but the carpark was jam packed full when we arrived, so we had to park on the main road, luckily there was a space not too far away.Checking in was pain-free, and then we were directed towards the back of the hotel to its built-on block, and the hotel changed from a beautiful period building to a seventies style block of rooms, which made my heart sink a little. My room was adequate, a little tired, but spotlessly clean, with a view through the gap of the buildings (and across an unattractive flat roof) to the sea. We were informed that they only put couples in the rooms in the main building, which I thought was a little strange...My colleague and I ate at the hotel as it was quite late when we arrived. Bar service was woefully slow, as there was only one barman who was trying to serve at the bar as well as lay the tables for the bar meals, but he was polite (just overworked....) they have to very similar menus - bar and restaurant, but be aware that you are not allowed to eat bar food in the restaurant (even though it was empty, we had to eat our meals in the lounge)Considering everything I would rate it as adequate, I have stayed in better places for less money, but the staff are friendly and the place is perfectly clean with no strange smells.

Lovely Hotel, Newly Refurbished
Stayed for one night while on business, and have to say was plesantly surprised, the hotel is outside the main town centre and right on the beach front, it has a car park but this is small mayby holding about 10-12 cars but there is parking on the road/esplenade at the front.Check-in was good with the lady explaining all things about meals, breakfast etc, with a wee welcome letter to help you on your way, i was told even before I got to my room I would not be getting any sort of view as it was a single room which was at the back of the main hotel in additional building which is connected by an internal walkway, this was not a problem, but mayby a point of note if you are a single traveller looking for a view!My single room was an ok size but it was immaculate with a LCD tv with freeview, and tea coffee etc, you also get free wifi, the bathroom was also spotless and obviously new as everything was pristine, no bath but a great shower.I had my main meal in the Bar which was nice, standard scottish fare Scallops etc very good, there is a resteraunt as well but I never tried it and to be fair most other guests were eating in the bar, special mention for the bar man who was keeping the tourists enetertained with his chatter.I never had breakfast in the morning as I was catching an early ferry so can't comment, I've stayed in a few Best Western throughout Britain and they can be a bit hit and miss, but this hotel is definetly in the top 3 I've stayed in, the've obviously spent a bit of money on the place and it shows. On a side note I booked through the hotel direct and got a great rate of ¿¿65 b+B a lot cheaper than booking websites. Recommended.
