Nice enough hotel, great value - negative reviews seem very unfair
We were a bit apprehensive in view of negative reviews however were more than happy with the hotel. Very clean, all amenities (apart from internet which is apparently being planned) expected in a hotel are present, and every one of the staff very pleasant. The housekeeping service is great, and the rooms are quaint - it is an old building, with extensions added over time so don't expect glass and chrome everywhere, but do expect old world charm. Lovely views from the hotel. The hotel is situated at the south end of the island, just next to the bridge. This makes it probably not a great base to spend a number of nights on Skye, but is great for a short break. Ideal for folks wanting a taste of Skye as you're really close to the main route round the island. I find it quite disappointing that so many people pick up on small things that actually don't matter all that much. If you want be in a luxury hotel then why are you going to Skye? Skye is beautiful - go out and see it. If your hotel is clean, comfortable and reasonably priced then be happy. The Kings Arms is all of those things and does a great breakfast. Also does meals in the evening and the bar is not over priced. If you want 5 star luxury, you can certainly pay for that in other Skye hotels - and you will pay a lot more than here. The lack of Internet is really a drawback - one thing you want to do on Skye is check the weather forecast regularly.... Hope to return soon and see wi-fi installed, otherwise we hope it stays just as it is.

Value for money
Two night stay .Breakfast was great in the restaurant and the service there is exceptional. The rooms are clean and well appointed. Have read dreadful reviews of this place before I came also read of refurbishment, so was prepared to see for myself this is a busy hotel offering no frills value The view from the front of the hotel are great andit is well situated for travel through out western highlands.

Horrible Hotel -- Much better options in area!
Had an awful experience with the Kings Arms Hotel in Kyleakin. We showed up and were immediately told that there was no room available for us and that we had to be outbooked to another B&B. This would have been fine if we had not been traveling with friends and had been notified of this inconvenience beforehand. In any case, our friends room was terrible with the heat turned off when they arrived so it was freezing cold. Also, they found their room window open when arriving back at the hotel the second night, so, once again freezing. The management is terrible and rude. After finding out that we were staying elsewhere (more on that later) we wanted to pay the B&B keeper directly -- they would not allow us to do it and insisted we pay them even though we hadn't stayed at their hotel. In truth, we lucked out not having to stay there -- the B&B where we ended up turned out to be GREAT. ADVICE: I ended up booking Kings Arms in the first place because I was able to reserve the room online and I had been avoiding having to call places directly. This was a huge mistake. Take some time to find the highest rated places on Trip Advisor and then just take the time to call them. We ended up staying at the RAINBOW VIEW B&B -- also in a great location in Kyleakin, incredible room and service, and the same price as the terrible Kings Arms Hotel.Anyway -- if you are coming to this area I highly recommend avoiding the Kings Arms and staying at a B&B like Rainbow View. Same price, much, MUCH better deal.

Great place to stay
Two night stay with a group of 18. Food is great in the restaurant and the service there is exceptional. The rooms are clean and well appointed. Have read dreadful reviews of this place before I came, so was a bit concerned... However, this has been one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in in Scotland. The view from the front of the hotel are awesome.
