A Sunny Warm Bank Holiday stay at last .
Excellent location right next to the Priory and the footpaths for the Malvern Hills .Shops and pubs to hand too.The old part of the hotel is full of character and we were lucky to be situated there .The room was large and very well appointed with a huge bathroom and with a side view as well as a window to the front . Having taken the family dog it was a pleasant suprise to be given a room of this standard as this is not always the case when travelling with a pet.The sleep quality was very good even though the hotel was packed for the Bank Holiday and had a coach tour and wedding reception going on not much noise was heard .The hotel gardens front and back are small but pleasant with space for the dog to run around (doggy bags to hand of course ) .Out of the door after a short walk you are up on to the Malvern Hills where you can roam for hours to your hearts consent .The Priory is worth a visit for the stained glass alone . The only meal we had there was breakfast although the room service menu seemed varied and reasonably priced.Faults there were some , such as one toaster between a few hundred guests at breakfast and lack of signage from the car park for reception . The ¿¿10 " nominal charge " for the dog to stay wasn't established beforehand either . I suppose free wi-fi balanced this out a bit but rather than say "nominal charge " hotels should be upfront with the actual sum when booking.Few issues apart we would definitely stay here again especially if the weather could be the same although the hotel management can't influence that request I'm afraid .

Weekend Break
Just spent a weekend at The Abbey Hotel Malvern very relaxing welcoming was very friendly and would agree drinks a bit pricey. Dinner on the Friday night was a bit hit and miss as the staff didn't seem that interested so was a bit worried for Saturday night didn't need to worry as it was a totaly different experience the staff were absolutely 100% attentive and the food was very good. The room was clean and all staff very friendly no compaints about breakfast as once again the staff were very courtious and attentive despite being very busy.

Nice position
In a great place but the hotel is challenging for the less mobile/energetic- unnecessarily long trek from the car park, lots of stairs and narrow corridors. Great breakfast buffet...but finished at 9.30 on the w/e.

Great location, shambolic breakfast
Excellent location with characterful older hotel building let down by poorly designed extension.Despite being full with a Saturday night event, the place felt very roomy.Room was spacious and quiet despite the Saturday night function. Attention to detail not quite the same as the Sir Christopher Wren, another hotel in the same chain (e.g. fresh milk brought to room on request, std of tea making facilities).Sunday morning breakfast was shambolic. Not enough staff to keep up with guest numbers. Although there was no queue to get into the restaurant, it took 15 minutes to order tea which came almost at the end of our meal.Staff couldn't keep up with replenishing the cooked breakfast demand, so queue built up which blocked others wanting just cereal or juice.Tables were left uncleared while the next guests were sat down. This was hardly a relaxing start to the day.

Really wanted to to like it, but it let itself down badly
On paper this hotel has a lot going for it. Things that work are a nice looking hotel in a great location. The public areas downstairs are pleasant and the hotel is very clean. What lets it down was a superior room that was very plain and too small to attract the term superior; with tiny narrow and twisting corridors and lots of changes in levels as you walk to your room. The hotel does not have Wifii in the bedrooms, only the common areas - and even then the signal is poor. The breakfast service was shambolic - dirty unclear tables, having to ask for coffee after a long wait, one domestic toaster provided, inadequate supply of food and a cramped self service area with lots of queues. Individual staff were pleasant, but poorly managed and unaware of the lack of service. Too long a queue when checking out.
