I stayed at the Devere Village Hotel in Cheadle on Sunday 5th May ¿¿¿ what a mistake that was!In the past I have used hotels from this group, and have always been impressed with the level of service and general standard.However ¿¿¿ when my wife and I arrived at this hotel we were first of all greeted by about 10 blokes ¿¿¿ most of whom were just wearing jeans with no shirts, leaning over the balcony at the front of the hotel (just outside what can only be described as the sports bar) They were all repeatedly spitting over the balcony onto the pedestrian access into the hotel lobby ¿¿¿ it was at this point I should have just got back in the car and left.Once inside, the hotel was full of Sunday afternoon drinkers ¿¿¿ not hotel guests , making use of the TV¿¿¿s in the bar watching the football. It was like arriving in a sports bar in Benidorm.We stayed in an ¿¿¿Upper Deck¿¿¿ room which was dark and dreary with chipped paintwork on the purple and black fixtures. If you are going to have dark colours at least touch up the chips and scratches.We tried to book a table for dinner (not the sports bar) and were told that we had no chance! It was Sunday night and carvery night which apparently is fully booked at least a week in advance ¿¿¿ Hotel guests will have to make do somewhere else.We caught a cab into town and managed to get into a Turkish restaurant which was fine but not what we had intended.On arriving back to the hotel, we were greeted by about 8 young lads playing five a side football in the car park amongst the guests¿¿¿ cars. Of course this must have been acceptable to the hotel as the sign says clearly that you park at your own risk ¿¿¿ ne mention of the football though! Once in bed we managed to doze off between various laps of the corridor from unsupervised children from the wedding party staying in the hotel.Bank holiday Monday we had intended a leisurely breakfast but got up at 7.00 am and checked out as fast as we could! I will never stay in a DeVere hotel again! KS Warwickshire

I stayed here for 2 nights when I went over to Manchester for a Christning . The whole hotel was wheelchair friendly. The room and bathroom was accessible, the bed was really comftable. Had a really good expierence here and would stay here again no problem

My room looked nothing like the pictures on the website - it was much more tired and in need of an update. However, it was clean and decent enough for a business trip. Facilities were good, but was a little disappointed overall.

My partner and I stayed for one night, and we won't be staying again. The saving grace for this hotel are the staff, who are friendly and helpful. However, our room was so dirty when we arrived that we had to ask for it to be completely re-cleaned. The staff were apologetic, but come on - a clean room is really basic stuff! The TV didn't work properly, and wouldn't completely switch off, which meant we spent the night with our room illuminated by its standby glare. The next morning, a partial English breakfast was on offer, but it was pretty cold and there didn't seem to be a chef around to cook anything fresh. For ¿¿105 per night, I'm sorry Mr De Vere, but you need to do a lot better.

Sun 28.4.13 stayed one night in this hotel. Hotel room 104. Cramped bathroom, low toilet. Room very warm, if you opened the window you had the aircraft loud noise as hotel is on flight path very near mchr airport. Good size TV in room, need more drawer space and a decent chair. In the evening we had a 5 course buffet meal which was good value at approx ¿¿13 ea. Breakfast was ok too. The downside is that the prominent colour of this hotel seems to be black! Aircraft noise in summer must also be problem if you need your bedroom window open for fresh air. We had an offer from Groupon.
