Horrible
Myself and my boyfriend visited the Al Hamra RAK in Sept 2012 and couldn't wait to come home! We were told whilst booking that the hotel was undergoing building work and so part of it would be inaccessible. However, we were happy to go along as we were also told the hotel was only at 40% capacity and therefore the closed restaurants wouldn't effect service at those available. Upon arrival, we waited 40 minutes to be checked in.. baring in mind there was only 1 individual at the desk. After this unnecessary delay we decided to look around the resort and familiarise ourselves. As we approached the beach we noticed most of it had been uprooted and what was left was flattened by bulldozing trucks.. moreover, less than 500 yards to the left was the biggest and ugliest (what appeared to be) an oil tanker ship or something of the sort by a large construction site. Now i do not know whether this building had anything to do with the resort but it was the biggest eyesore on the planet.. and the noise of clattering metals at intervals during the day did not orchestrate well with the waves crashing onto the flattened and destroyed shore. Thus our dreams of a scenic and relaxing holiday by the beach were destroyed, we had tried to enjoy it but it wasn't possible.. the beach was idle during our stay. We decide to cut our loses and enjoy the pool... which was terrible. It was small, the area around the pool was dirty.. the service was appalling (considering it was 45 degrees, it shouldn't have taken 25 minutes to receive water when there was only 10 people by the pool.) In addition to this, there was absolutely nothing to do, nothing was offered in the resort apart from costly trips into Dubai which we've done all before. The breakfast buffet wasn't any better, it was in a small room, the food was limited and it was generally to busy to enjoy. The buffet restaurant (lunch/dinner) was terrible, the food was not of any standard, by far the worst we had had anywhere on holiday. It got rather depressing so we began eating at the in-house Arabic restaurant, where the food was amazing but extremely overpriced (¿¿22 a dish/¿¿8 for 125ml wine.) We resorted to dining here for 4 nights, spending a lot of money and eating repetitive meals just to avoid the only other option. Our evenings didn't get better, at night you could hear the bulldozers and machinery driving along the beach from the room, the constant sound of reverse lights and clattering of metal was enough to drive you insane! We were fed up by the second day.. and wanted to go home. I've been to Dubai and RAK on several different occasions and this resort was a disappointment by far. I won't be returning and feel bad to have spent all that money.. We were told that part of the resort was undergoing work.. but that was and understatement and i was told there was a building inaccessible, not that the entire beach had been destroyed and all you could offer me was terrible service and overpriced edible food. Horrific

worst of the worst
if you got loads of cash, you got nothing to do but fight, you have time to getaway on another weekend because you ruined this one or you just don't give a damn about where you stay, this so-called FIVE star is just the place for you and your family. this is my worst five star experience i ever had in my entire life.worst room service. rooms have cheap decor, room service number never worked so we had to walk in the blazing sun for water. no electric kettle found in the room let alone tea bags and sugar sachets. asking for two empty cups took almost a lifetime and we are still waiting after two hours having passed......all in all this place is absolutely KACHRA!!!!

Disappointment !
I had been to this property just last weekend and I would strongly not recommend to travellers who are class and quality conscious. It's definitely low budget and certainly not close to 5 star property. In my opinion this property is over rated. The checkin process took close to 1 hr. And most of the people who were checkin in with us were already irritated coz of long waiting. The decor of the room is not very impressive. The mini bars are empty and trust me, if u hv to put something in tht fridge to cool...it won't cool until your check out time. If you have to put some stuff in the fridge then you have to put it in the common fridge in the lobby area of the reception and give them your room number !!! There is no provision on Tea, coffee, kettle etc in the room. I had book 5 rooms in this property as I had hosted my husband's birthday party and my guests were disappointed. We ordered for a cup of tea in the room and it never came inspire on a reminder call ! The room AC was not working. The hotel maintenance staff came thrice and yet the AC would not work ! The management did not take an initiative to change or upgrade the room unless we asked for it late in the night. In one of the rooms the TV was not working. There were no tissue roles, Towels in the bathroom...we had to call for it. And mind well....for every small thing you have to call and the staff will take at least 45 mins to show up after few follow up calls. And the reason is "We are full" and short of staff !!We went for lunch in the 24/7 operational restaurant. The attendant recommended we order for burgers and sandwiches which will take just 15mins to get served. Since everyone was hungry we did that, and the order was served after 1 hour ! And after 45 mins of placing the order, the staff comes and tells us tht they were running out of some stock and we have to change the order ! They goofed up in the orders and there was a complete chaos ! Strongly not recommended !

Average place....average price
We were a group of 10 friends who visited Al Hamra Fort Hotel over the weekend. The drive from Dubai and RAK was pretty pleasant with views of beautiful desert and lots of pictures clicking opportunities with camels etc on the way. The checkin process took very long and the staff at the front desk was slow and pretty rude when asked to speed up the process. The guest management was absolutely poor as there was no one to bring in the luggage as a result of which we had to bring our stuff ourselves from the cars. After about an hour roughly the check in was completed and we were allotted the rooms. The rooms are pretty old but still ok. The rooms did not have tissue papers in the bathrooms, the AC in 2 rooms were not working. The issues were fixed but only after repeated reminders. One room was changed as the AC issue could not be fixed. The other services such as food, pool, beachside etc were good. All in all it is an ok place for the price. Choose this place if no other option is available

good place to relax
Its a good place to relax. rooms are large enough. housekeeping is average. Staffs are very coperative and friendly. Buffet Breakfast and Dinner is good. Lovely beach.Swimming pool can be rated as average.
