Successful first stay.
My partner and I stayed at Norton house for one night on Saturday 11th May in a classic double room.We were warmly welcomed to the hotel and the lady on the desk (sorry I cannot remember your name) wished my partner a Happy Birthday, something which had evidently been passed on by Natasha who I made our dinner reservations through. This was a lovely touch and very much appreciated, particularly since our night away at the hotel was a surprise to him.We were pleasantly surprised by the space in our room, and its decor. The room looked modern and clean and first impressions certainly counted. Our only niggle was that we were placed in a room with an interconnecting door, next to a room of ladies who were rather loud. Although there had been foam placed between the doors to try and muffle the sounds it didn't help much. I do believe though that if the room next door had been occupied by different guests you may not have noticed the noise.During our stay we used the hotel pool twice. It was clean and tidy and had all the mod-cons and necessities. We particularly enjoyed the hydro-pool jacuzzi! The staff here were very friendly also. The one comment I would make other travellers aware of is that the pool is not connected internally to the hotel and therefore you do have to cross the car park to get there. Although it is not far, some guests may wish to take a small gym bag with them to carry their belongings over to the pool, something I had not realised. We ate in the brasserie, thank you to Natasha for arranging our reservation! The food was superb and the staff were again extremely helpful and accommodating. I recommend the cocktails in particular! I was most impressed that although the hotel had two weddings on the evening we were staying they coped very well with serving guests quickly and efficiently.Breakfast was again another great set-up and we were well looked after again. Breakfast was also very tasty!Thank you to all who made our stay a weekend to remember, we will no doubt be returning soon.

Staff and service are one of the best I've experienced.
We had the opportunity to stay at this hotel via a last minute eBay deal as the original party could not make it. What a deal we got!!! First class from the moment we arrived to the very end. Service at the reception desk to the numerous bars and restaurants was brilliant. Rooms were superb. Facilities like the spa and pool was brilliant. A top hotel. Value for money it's one of the best we've had even if we paid full wack for the room. Get it booked you won't be disappointed.

We will definitely be back
We have just returned from a 3 night stay and will definitely be back. Everyone looks for something different in a hotel, but for us everything was pretty near perfect. We stayed in an executive suite with a balcony that got the sun in the afternoon and evening (even in Scotland in May!) Yes the hotel is near the airport, but once in our room we never heard any aircraft noise and the setting is beautiful. The bar is quiet and intimate and the brasserie offers a good selection of meals, but PLEASE, if you get a chance, try Ushers restaurant. Our every need was tended to by Sandor, who deserves a special mention, and we can honestly say this was one of the best meals we have ever eaten.Yes it can be expensive to eat and drink in the hotel, but no more so than any other quality hotel anywhere in the world. The staff at the hotel were all smiling and friendly, from cleaners to the front of house manager, so thanks to all for making our stay a little bit special. We chose to get taxis into the city, rather than trying the drive through the chaos of roadworks in Edinburgh at the moment. We had checked with staff for the price of this prior to our stay and they were spot on, at roughly ¿¿20 - ¿¿25 each way. We stayed mid week so can't comment on how busy it would be if there was a wedding being held at the hotel. If you are looking for good quality food and drink while you relax on the outskirts of the city, then Norton House is definitely for you.

Norton House, Edinburgh
Fantastic hotel - they provide brilliant service with little touches, such as a toy cat (with a name) on your bed - really makes you feel at home. Food, service and facilities all excellent - I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.

Fantastic place to stay
Having just returned from staying here for 2 nights the only word I can think of is fabulous. From the moment we arrived the staff were extremely attentive and helpful. Especially the woman on reception on Thursday afternoon (2nd May), sorry we didn't catch her name. She took the time to find out how our journey up had been and inquired whether we had anything planned during our stay. Although our room wasn't quite ready - we did arrive an hour too early - we were shown to the Conservatory where we enjoyed a drink whilst waiting. Not long after she came and took us to our room, where our suitcase seemed to have already found it's way.We were very kindly upgraded to an Executive room but as it was my birthday whilst we were away, we upgraded to a Junior Suite. If you are thinking of staying here then I cannot recommend the Balerno suite enough - everything about it was wonderful. The bed seemed enormous and it has a lovely wetroom and sitting area upstairs. The location of the hotel is a little out of Edinburgh itself but does not really matter at all as the Inslington Park and Ride is only a 5 minute car journey away and a day ticket into town is only ¿¿3.50, so much cheaper than trying to park the car. As a few reviewers have already said, the hotel is quite near the airport at first glance, but it's quite set back and we didn't hear any aircraft noise at all.Every attention to detail is paid in this hotel and every member of staff was polite, and wished you good morning etc. The manager really is onto a winner here. And I have to mention Maisie the black cat which you put outside your door if you do not want to be disturbed, who I wanted to purchase on our departure but forgot all about! The spa looked lovely but unfortunately we did not have time to use it, so we haven't left any ratings for that.We only stayed for 2 days but still had so much to do it was a shame to leave, and we would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended. I've never left a review on here before, but felt that this hotel deserves one.
