OK Business Hotel
Stayed there 2 nights, May 26 & 27.Just off the freeway, but traffic noise was not a problem.Rooms were clean and neat, but public spaces looked worn.Bathrooms were recently re-done, but water pressure was very weak.Business center was dated, but free printing and faxing was very helpful.I understand the hotel was fully booked and had 2 very large, and young groupsstaying that weekend.

Not a bad experience but the hotel needs a little love.
We had a short stay at the hotel due to a death in the family. In making last minute travel plans we happened upon the Sheraton which was quite a bit cheaper than the Hilton that we usually stay at when visiting the area. We booked a room on the club level which included free wifi and access to the club lounge which had cold beverages, continental breakfast and appetizers in the evening. The hotel is definitely older and in need of a face lift. The rooms are actually a nice size, bed linens fresh and the room was clean but the furniture was definitely outdated. I was actually surprised at how good the food was in the restaurant. We had breakfast there everyday and one dinner. The service was a bit but everyone was friendly and accommodating. When speaking with the dining room manager he did confess that the hotel has been in need of renovations for some time and that the staff has had to overcompensate with exceptional customer service to keep the customers happy. We were lucky that we had a good room because a number of them were in bad shape. From what I understand the hotel is being looked at by a group of investors and should the deal go through renovations will most likely begin within the next 6 months. For now I would say the hotel is a good value for the money but don't expect the luxury you would normally experience at a Starwood property.

Very Disappointing for a Starwood Sheraton
We stayed at the Sheraton in Hauppauge because we had a family event close by, and it was the nearest Starwood.I've never any issues with any of the Starwood properties I've stayed at. Ever. I guess there's a first time for everything.The staff was pretty good. Every request we had was taken care of quickly and with a smile. My problem is with the building and the rooms.The lobby was pretty nice at first glance, but once you start looking around, issues start appearing. There are two fountain things in the lobby - one was a half full pond like thing with scum around the edges, kind of like a tub after you've bathed your 3 children and the dog after they played in the yard all day.The room - the carpet was stained and nasty. There were no tissues and half a roll of TP in the bathroom. We're a family of 4, and we need those things. Had to call to have them brought up.The smoking area is at (AT, not near) the back door, so we had to walk through a cloud of cigarette smoke every time we entered or left. Nasty.The pool and hot tub were like the fountains. Maybe a little cleaner, but with a ring of scum around the tiles.I wish I had read reviews before we went, I would have stayed at the Hampton Inn down the road.

Outdated website + rude front desk + needs a facelift
4/2013 - I love Starwood hotels - I try to stay with the chain whenever possible. It wasn't the cosmetics of the room that were disappointing. It wasn't the weird smell in the room or the hair all over the bathroom floor (that was left over from previous hotel guests) and it wasnt the stained towels that give this hotel a terrible rating. I do feel the guestkeeping did the best that they could - with the dry weather and the quality of the supplies. The terrible rating starts with the website and ends with the front desk. After booking my room online - I went to the website and found they advertise a rental car agency at the hotel - straight from the website: Car Rental We now have vehicles available here for you to get you where you need to go. You can reserve your car rental Long Island online now prior to your stay or visit us in the flower shop located in the hotel lobby to rent your car. So prior to my visit I called the hotel and they said they no longer offer this service and told me to call Hertz of Smithtown. So I called Hertz of Smithtown reserved my car and got their address. I then took the address and enter it into google to see how far away it was from the hotel - thinking I could use the free shuttle to get to the car rental agency to pick up a car. It was within the 10 mile radius so I thought I was safe. Upon my arrival at checkin I asked the lady about the free shuttle and told her I needed to go to the Hertz rental agency. We discussed it and settled on a shuttle pick up time of 1:30. I waited in my room a couple of hours and I returned to the lobby at 1:15 - the same lady who I talked to about the shuttle during check-in asked me if I could call Hertz to pick me up INSTEAD of taking the shuttle. I was shocked...1. Why didnt she tell me that they didnt want to take me hours prior and 2. Don't offer the service if you aren't going to follow up. Luckily the Hertz in Smithtown was extremely nice and understood my situation. It is a small agency so they had to wait till someone got back from lunch and they took the car I was going to rent to pick me up cause they dont have a shuttle. Good for events...
This hotel seems like a great place to host your big loud Long Island event, whatever it is...with plenty of event and meeting space. The lobby seems to have been renovated in the early 2000s but is well maintained. The indoor pool is nice, but loud with kids about; however they do their best to keep the little ones out of the hot tub and regulating them to the pool. The guest rooms are decent, but need a face lift. Our bathroom needed a deep cleaning and the room smelled like someone had smoked in it several visits ago. The location is great right off of the LIE and in the center of Long Island so getting to any location on the island is easy enough. The service at the bar is top notch and the steaks looks wonderful. I'd skip the meet & cheese plate, especially if you're Italian as it falls flat compared to what is advertised on the menu. But the people watching from this locale is top notch, even better when an event is going on. The business center too needs an upgrade. Nice new computers work seamlessly, but the printer leaves a good awful mark on the side of every page rendering any boarding pass useless. The breakfast was your standard Sheraton breakfast. Considering the lack of options in the area, it's probably your best bet for a bite before you head out in the morning.
