My wife and i were greeted by the host who made us feel very welcome.The breakfast were very nice. We were given advice where to eat, visit and shop,We would recommend this B&B to others and return when we next visit Chester.

This is a nice B&B without being luxurious. It has a good location a short walk from the centre, and is welcoming.It would have scored higher had the breakfast been more 'generous' i.e. a choice of yogurts, cereals, and the rooms been more modern (for example the TVs are old 14" CRTs, some quite stark / brutal no smoking signs, etc.)Overall this is definitely recommended, knowing that it is a convenient place to rest your head whilst exploring the city, not a luxurious place to spend your time.

Stayed here with the family as we were goings to the zoo. Great family room large and didn't feel at all cramped lovely hosts and breakfast. Little cramped in the car park but that is a minor gripe. Would definitely recommend.

I booked a one-night stay at very short notice via Laterooms.com and then checked the accommodation out on Trip Advisor. I have to say that this guest house is far better value than a Travelodge. It is close to central Chester, just a short walk across the River Dee, in the Handbridge area of the city. The Kings Guest House has free parking and fast, free Wi-Fi. I had a single room at the very top of the house. This was up several flights of stairs and there is no lift. I found the room to be very cold; I guess one of the downsides of a large house in winter. The one window was not double-glazed and I ended up pushing the thickish curtains into and around the window frame to keep out a fairly stiff draught! However, it should be noted that this was an exceptionally cold week with bitter winds. The staff were welcoming and pleasant. I assume I was booked in by the owner but I¿¿¿m not sure as he didn¿¿¿t actually introduce himself! You pay on arrival but annoyingly, I had to pay by debit card as a credit card would have incurred an excess of 3%. I could not remember this as a requirement from the website? No evening meals are served but there are a couple of pubs very close by serving food. I choose the Handbridge Pub and Dining (www.handbridge.org.uk) just down on the left-hand side towards the river. Their menu was comprehensive, there was a log fire and the food was excellent. My single room was very small indeed. It did have a separate ensuite shower and toilet and the whole area was very clean. The shower worked well. The toiletries were of good quality but the towels were too small for my liking. I would have liked to have had a chair in the room as I had to sit on the bed. In the morning, the breakfast was served in a light and airy dining room. There was a very good menu selection ¿¿¿ both hot and cold. My freshly cooked full English was of good quality and came very quickly to the table. Overall, this was a very good value stay for the price paid but I think if I was staying for more than one night, I would have booked one of the larger rooms.

We had a very pleasant stay. Pauline & Phil were welcoming hosts. Beautiful house and our room was brilliant, excellent shower, nice and warm considering the unseasonal cold weather outside. Good breakfast sets you up for the day. Good advice on local amenities and attractions. Very convenient to the town, so you could walk to most places of interest. We will stay again when we return to Chester.
