Dreadfull
This has to probably be the worst hotel I have ever stopped in. Firstly the plus points, reasonable breakfast and good location being close to the Channel Tunnel and ports. After that it just goes downhill. The hotel is very tired decor wise; everywhere needs a major refurbish, especially the bedrooms. The curtains were so thin; they kept hardly any light out, the sunlight just streamed once the sun rose. You could not swing a cat in the shower and the radiator did not work, so the room was like sleeping in a fridge. That was if you could get any sleep in the bed, it was so uncomfortable, you could feel all the springs, plus the pillows were very hard. Staff were helpful and spoke good English.Thats about it, not good at all. Best avoided.

Seen better days...........
Stayed one night in this Victorian building. The public areas were very well kept. However, I was quite surprised at the condition of my room. Very basic, in need of redecoration. Tea and coffee making 'facilities' consisted of a kettle, two cups and two spoons, but no tea or coffee!! The fitted wardrobe door was flimsy balsa wood and almost came off in my hand. The bathroom/ toilet were very inadequate. Overall, the room was shabby, and not very welcoming.

Tired and in need of a re-vamp
We stayed one night on route to the tunnel crossing and reading reviews we thought this was a safe punt. How wrong could we have been, the room was tired is an under statement. The bed was worn out, the curtains paper thin, carpet from an exhibition type floor, the one thing you could not fault was the breakfast. It was cheap to be fair, but I would rather have paid another ¿¿10-15 and found some comfort. It's a real shame, the location is lovely. It's real true British coastal hotel that just needs some investment to bring it back to former glory.

Friendly
Friendly Helpful staff willing to go above and beyond to make guests stay as comfortable as possible. I arrived early for check in and my room obviusly was not ready however they had no problem providing me with an upgrade straight away so I could get to my room and catch up on some sleep as I had travelled all night. Thanks Clean comfortable rooms and excellent breakfast. Good value for the single room price.

good value Accommodation
stayed for a couple of nights in April (sat & sun) at ¿¿25 per night for a sea view room with breakfast, it was excellent value for money - hard to beat. I was given a single room on the top floor at the front. My initially reaction was one of despondency, the room was extremely dated and threadbare, (although it was clean). the furniture was old and dank, the bath with shower over looked grotty, the TV was ancient and did not work, went to reception and was offered a twin room on the other side This was much better, a bright clean room, quite spacious, obviously renovated bathroom, flat screen TV, toiletries provided and a good hairdryer available when asked for at reception. The receptionist explained that this side of the hotel (right side) was more noisy as the function suite was at this side, there was some noise especially on the second night with a party which got out of hand (apparently even the hotel staff complained of the noise at this party) but I was so tired I slept through most of it. Breakfast was of a basic standard, but the service was excellent, sat down and was immediately asked if I wanted tea/coffee which was brought out very quickly, followed by full English, there is cereals, juice etc. available on a help yourself basis. I had a main meal of roast beef and Yorkshire puds one evening (3 courses were on offer) this only cost ¿¿5 and the quality was reflected in the price, but again the service was good.As for the lift which has been mentioned many times, I loved it, it became a challenge to close both doors before the alarm went off.Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall the cost was excellent for what it was, I would not want to stay any longer than a couple of nights. I am glad that I was moved room, but I would have liked a better sea view room.I could only get the Wi-Fi to work downstairs.I would recommend it for a cheap and cheerful short break.
