The owner Paul was very accommodating and helpful. The room was clean, very large and bright with many windows. The bed was firm and we slept great. Paul even let us leave our bags and vehicle after we checked out so we could spend the day in Manhattan. Wonderful!!

We found the neighborhood to be in transition, but very quiet at night.As two women, we felt very safe walking around. Located near a school, on street parking is limited and the property has no parking lot. We were on the front of the B&B and the room was clean, very comfortable bed but carpeting was a tad shabby. The proprietor is attentive and makes a wonderful breakfast presentation.The deli across the street is good and the location is walkable to the ferry to Lower Manhattan!

This is a beautiful Victorian house, a short (but uphill) walk from the ferry, so very convenient for getting into Manhattan, at about half the price of accommodation there. We had a huge apartment on the ground floor, with comfortable bed (and TV, easy chairs and other furniture in the room), full kitchen (in which breakfast magically appeared before we got up each morning), bathroom, and extra nooks and crannies. Paul was an unobtrusive but helpful host. There are excellent restaurants in the neighbourhood, and the amazing restored St George theatre, although not much else in walking distance. We've been here twice, and would definitely go again if in NYC,

This is our second time staying at Fort Place, and we love it. It's convenient, clean, comfortable and hassle free. Great value for money in NY. Both times we've stayed there, we got the entire second floor to ourselves - 2 bedrooms, bathroom and a breakfast room. Our 4 yr old daughter loves going there as she gets her own room. Since we drove in we could park the car in the driveway and not worry about parking. The rooms are big and comfortable - as you would expect from a good B&B. Paul is pleasant and discreet. We enjoyed staying there both times, and will be going again next year!

Thought this place was a real gem, in terms of price and ease of travel into Manhatten. As single traveller it is not unusual to get the smallest room in the house but I had a choice of 2 great rooms. Saw Paul a couple of times during stay, he was helpful as much as I needed it...and quite accomodating with potential date changes. The neighbourhood was perfectly acceptable, house was warm (freezing outside), I cancelled the breakfast simply to keep to my own timetable on holiday but thought it was a bonus in terms of the price I was paying. Found a great italian restaurant 3 mins walk away... and seriously could not publicly fault accomodation as was such a great price.
