Sadly, BLT is a reflection on the Ritz Carlton
While BLT Steak is technically not a "part" of the Ritz Carlton in White Plains it is, nonetheless, attached to the hotel, has an easy access just steps from the elevator, and is, for all practical purposes, the only true seven-day a week full service dining option in the hotel. The hotel hides a bit from the aspect of it not providing a true full dining experience behind the idea that BLT leases space in the property but is not affiliated. Rather confusing, I know. Below is a review of BLT Steak at the Ritz Carlton and how in this day of brand sharing and cooperative agreements the main party must also be held accountable for the actions of it's smaller entity. Like the actions of employees, no brand can hide behind the walls of an excuse that "we are together but not the same."The Review as submitted to the BLT Steak page here:I stay at The Ritz Carlton, which is attached to BLT Steak,12-15 times a year. I eat here each night and it is typically fine: innovative (as all BLT's are..I frequent the DC one where I live) with a slight hint towards more food prep than service. This night however took me to a new level of bizarre in the way of customer interaction. Here, exactly, is the scenario: Sit at the bar alone, enjoying a martini, ordered dinner, reading the NYT on my phone. A gentlemen comes up to me, does not identify himself, encourage a greeting, or offer any sort of introduction. He simply states in a heavily doted French accent and at a level enough for those around to hear; "Sir, you are embarrassing yourself and the restaurant...please pull your pants up." I am kind of speechless at this point. As if I was in some sort of surreal French movie. Taken aback, I stand motionless from my chair and collect myself, trying to understand who this person was and exactly what he was talking about. I look at my clothing: Paul Smith blue blazer with pocket square, a Paul Smith button down shirt, nicely tailored jeans (whew, I did remember pants), and Paul Smith shoes - then wondering if this was some kind of practical joke. I realize a few moments later that perhaps my jacket was riding up and my jeans may have been slouched a bit (I recently lost weight) but was still perplexed. I walked up to the man and asked him what he was talking about and who he was and he informed me that he was the General Manager and that my jeans were hanging down and my "buttocks were showing and it was embarrassing." I was, once again, lost in the moment of the surreal. Did this man actually just say this? Am I some biker off the street wearing leather? What? We had words, mutually insulting I am sure - given my complete shock and embarrassment (at the way he handled this) - paid my bill, said so long to my $42.00 steak...and ventured back to my room for room service. Were my "buttocks exposed? Of course not. Were my jeans inadvertently riding a tad low due to recent weight loss? It seems so. So, what could Michel Laurent, the GM, have done better to handle the possibility that my Paul Smith jeans were indeed riding a bit low and marginally exposed given their open-backed bar stools? Perhaps he could have said this "Hi, I am Michel Laurent, the General Manager here, I hope your enjoying everything and that you are comfortable in our home. I know this is completely awkward and I am absolutely lost at the best way of saying this but we have these absurd open-backed bar stools and sometimes, boy do I know, our pants may slip a bit and we might have a rather unknowing and awkward exposure. I am sure your not aware and I have no better way to let you know that your pants in back are a tad low...I am sure you know that I just want you to be informed for your own comfort. If there is anything I can do let me know." Then laugh - and make jokes about it in a friendly way. Tell the customer, even if BS, that "yeah, I have the same problem sometimes with my jeans and I hate it." It's not brain surgery. Or a stretch. It's simple court

Still a Great Hotel!
Just left today. The hotel still has great service with a nice location in the town of White Plains with shopping within walking distance! Only thing is the restaurants Blt and 42 are always booked in the summer so you have to call ahead. The pool is is great and is closed in so that is good. The spa is small and is always booked. Impossible to get a appointment. Unless you plan ahead you will not be going. Also, I here as of May 1st no dogs at the Ritz so that is great for us.

The People At This Property Are Top Notch
This hotel is dated for a Ritz, there's no doubt about it. However my hats are off to every person working there because the service I received from the valet to the spa personnel was top notch. The Bell Captain charmed my three and a half year old daughter so that the check in process could go smoothly. The people at the front desk were friendly, fast and knowledgable and concerned about my preferences. The staff at he spa were wonderful. The wait staff were amazing, and very attentive to my daughter, even giving her a going away cupcake for dessert.I thought the rooms were fine, not spectacular. The bathroom was lovely, clean and fully stocked to enjoy a luxurious bath. There was a small rip in the wall paper in the bedroom. I used the spa, the pool and the fitness center, all very nice. I thought the spa was excellent.Overall, if I was going to be in Westchester again, I would go back, but mostly because the service made me feel like a celebrity and was far more memorable than the way the hotel looked.

Wedding Night
We reserved rooms for our guests at the Ritz for our wedding weekend and we also stayed the night or our wedding so we could see everyone. The entire process was seamless. I actually over estimated the number of rooms and the additional money we were supposed to pay was waived! It was such a nice surprise considering it was my error. Our room was a suite the night of the wedding. Roses covered the bed and floor and champagne was chilled in the sitting area. The staff coordinated all of the details with our shuttle driver and everyone had a great time! I would highly recommend this hotel.

Not an impressive property
For the price point and the name one should expect an out of this world experience. Unfortunately, this property does not do service to the Ritz reputation. For starters my room had very poor fit and finish including, a hole in the wall, gaps around bathroom fixtures and poorly matched wall paper seems. In addition, I was here with a conference and we ate dinner in the 42 Club. To say the service was slow would be an understatement. It was so slow the conference organizers had to decide to cancel the dessert so that we could finally adjourn to our rooms. Another example of not up to the Ritz standards was the placement of soap dispensers in the meeting floor washroom. Instead of permanent dispensers there were cheap plastic bottles which apparently had been used and refilled repeatedly, to the point that the pumps no longer worked. In addition, there was one soap dispenser for every two sinks, set off to the side of one. If you were at the other sink you had to either reach across the person washing his hands at the other sink or walk behind that person. In the defense of the staff who seem marginally trained; the front desk woman did comp out a breakfast when I told her my disappointments. That is actually why I gave a "3" rating as opposed to something less.
