Dirtiest Hostel Ever.
Literally the worst hostel experience of my life. Water stains on the ceiling and carpet, small showers, gross bathrooms and overall dirty rooms. Do not lift up the sheets to look at the mattress...disgusting. During my stay there was a flood in the bathroom above me and toilet water was dripping onto my pillow. After sleeping at Starbucks and yelling at reception for 30 mins I was able to get a refund for that night.NEVER AGAIN.

Fine just for 2days
We were in Dublin for the weekend. The recepcionist that we met first was not really nice, but is true that later on the rest were nice with us. The rooms are ok, but the bathroom (we had it inside) is really small, and bit old, just 2 big towels, no carpet for the shower, no towel for hand, no soap... In the room we didnt have any table or something were to put the things, just a chair. Also we were trying to find a vending machine or similar to buy water, and we had to go outside to buy it. Breakfast was included, irsh breakfast, ok. The first nite was really noisy, up stairs. Second nite was more or less fine. The location is 10min walking from temple bar.

You get what you pay for...but should this mean sleepless nights!?
We stayed at avondale from 6th feb to the 10th feb. We literally booked it the night before we left and didn't check out trip advisor as we rushed the booking, I wish we had looked now!! When we initially checked into our room we literally just dumped our bags and headed out. Initial thoughts were, decor bit tired, bit smelly but it was a bed and a shower which was all we were fussed about. However, when we came back to the room for our first nights sleep, we literally didn't sleep a wink. This was due to the unbelievably hot room as the radiator was on full whack at all times and the knob had been taken off so we couldn't turn it off or down. So we had no choice to open the windows but that meant we were faced with the traffic noise, which kept us awake. Also, we were in room 128 and it had 4 windows which had no restriction or bars on so very dangerous if travelling with kids..or irresponsible people! Breakfast was fairly good, definetely microwaved but it seemed to be the only good thing about it. Also, location good too. We paid 140 for an en suite room which meant we had our own shower cubicle and sink (toliets were shared on the floor below). The shower was vile, pipes on show out the back of the shower unit going into the wall and thw shower head squirted water in every direction. It is the sort of shower where you take one look at it and wish you brought your flip flops to shower. I know people say you get what you pay for but should that really be sleepless nights and being uncomfortable for the whole time you are there ?? In hindsight, should have complained whilst we were there but being typical english we didn't.As mentioned before in other reviews, some reception staff tell you to take your key with you when you go out and some ask to have it! Bed was made while we were there but linen not changed, my boyfriend had a nose bleed during the night on our first night and he had to sleep with his bloodied pillow for the rest of our stay !

Good location
Good location , clean B&B. if you after luxury hotel, it's not for you. but if you want a cheap clean B&B , this one is right. 24 hour reception. Free wifi. very close to centre. saved a lot in transport. Breakfast included. windows are single glazed so it can be little noisy at night. helpful staff.

It was an experience, I'll give you that...
I came here with a friend, and had picked it basically because it was the cheapest that we could both agree on. We weren't expecting a luxury hotel, and were aware that we would have a shared bathroom- but what we weren't expecting was to have a shower cubicle right in the room. Possibly a benefit, but struck me as a bit strange considering that we were in a room which had two single beds in and no room for a double bed, and therefore not meant for a couple, so in the mornings we would have to take turns sitting on the staircase outside of our room while the other showered. I could only assume that it was normally used as a single room, which brings me to my next point. The layout of the room overall was, well, weird. Did cause some bemused laughter between us. Not sure I can really explain it, but the room was narrow, with one bed horizontally placed, and then widened at the end with another bed vertically placed. Between our beds was what was supposed to be the wardrobe, only it was very shaky and I feared that a good shove would make it collapse. The walls were quite thin and we could hear what was going on in other people¿¿¿s rooms. On the plus side, there was a sink in the room which we found useful. Oh, though I nearly forgot- the TV and electric socket was a little closer to the shower than we would¿¿¿ve liked, and we weren¿¿¿t too sure whether it met with health and safety standards. As for the staff, we found them a bit of a mixed bag. While we didn¿¿¿t find anyone to be particularly rude, we did find some of them more helpful than others. As we arrived in Dublin too early to check in, we decided to find out where it was anyway, and the lady on reception at that time suggested we leave our heavy cases behind the desk while we went off and explored, and we could come back later to check in properly. This of course was quite helpful, as we didn¿¿¿t really want to be lugging our cases around. When we came back later to check in, somebody else was behind the desk and he got our details confused with someone else¿¿¿s, and I very nearly signed for a Martin Somebody before realising his mistake. Also, they had a bit of an inconsistent policy about whether you take your key with you or leave it at the desk, and only found out on our third day as we were leaving. Hmm...Breakfast was okay for us, but nothing special. We got it two minutes after we ordered, so I suspect that it came from the microwave, and consisted of sausages, bacon, eggs and beans. One morning, there was someone who was either Muslim or Jewish (I can¿¿¿t remember now) who just had the egg and beans, and I did feel a bit sorry for him as he didn't seem to have much of a choice.Overall, the location was great, as we were less than five minutes away from O¿¿¿Connell Street, and could easily walk to a lot of other places in Dublin. However, I think the old adage of ¿¿¿you get what you pay for¿¿¿ applies here. We were able to tolerate it with reasonably good humour as we weren¿¿¿t staying long and spent most of our days out exploring Dublin, although if we ever return, hopefully we will be able to afford something a bit better.
