Apartment OK but location not good
I have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Europe Apartments. The first problem with this accommodation was that the booking confirmation specified that check in was after 3pm and it asked us to email the property to inform them of our arrival time which we did a couple of days before the trip. We explained in our email that due to an early flight we would be arriving in Berlin in the early morning and asked if it was possible to check in earlier than 3, however we received a response saying that it would depend on whether the apartment was in use the previous night etc and asked us to call if we wished to check in early, however when we arrived in Berlin we found some luggage lockers at Alexandraplatz station so decided to start our sightseeing and then head to the apartment for check in at 3pm rather than checking in early. We then arrived at the apartment block around 3.15pm. We were met there by a lady who explained that the apartment was not ready yet, she took us into the apartment where we signed the paperwork and paid the 35 euros for the cleaning fee, we were then told we could leave our bags but that we would have to come back in 40 minutes while she cleaned the apartment. We felt it was unacceptable that the apartment wasn't ready and when we returned we did not feel it had been cleaned throughly.The apartment was well equipped with cooking utensils, toaster, microwave, fridge etc. The bed was confortable and spare pillows and blankets were provided. The apartment only had a heater in the kitchen and a heated towel rail in the bathroom so on our first night we found the bedroom very cold, we decided to turn up the heaters in the other rooms and leave the doors open for it to circulate however after a couple of hours the whole place was boiling, but as soon as we turned the heating down it was freezing again. The hot water was also not very hot.The hall way of the apartment block was noisy, we could hear everyone who walked up the stairs, which was a little annoying at 2.30 am.The location of the property was a 5 minute walk from Seestrasse U-Bahn and it was easy to get into central Berlin. The area was not the nicest and on the first night we felt a little vulnerable coming back to the apartment late at night however everything was fine and the next few nights we were not worried about walking around after dark.

Comfortable base in Wedding
We arrived late and had no trouble getting the key from the keybox as per instructions. We were on the top (4th) floor of apartment building 40 and for those without heavy luggage it is worth the effort of climbing the stairs to the top floor to avoid having people walking overhead on the squeaky wooden floors. The building is quite dated, but inside the apartment was pleasant and well equipped. We booked the suite, so the kitchen, living room and bedroom were all separate,which meant our party of 3 did not all have to share one room. The bedroom had 2 single beds and 1 double, and the living room had a sofa-bed. The apartment is a few minutes walk from Seestrasse underground station from which you can reach the centre in a few stops on the train or get to the main station by bus 120. Also on the corner of Brusselerstrasse and Muellerstrasse is a Netto supermarket below street level which is not easy to spot but worth knowing about to buy supplies/food. As mentioned in other reviews, this place should not be advertised as Mitte when it is in Wedding. Having to pay a cleaning fee on arrival is a bit of an irritation but this was made clear on the expedia site when we booked.

Rather good apartment for this price
The apartments are nice and the kitchen is well equipped. The area is not so nice, but seemed rather safe. The apartments are in 5 minutes from the main street and public transportation (subwys and bus). The grossery stores are 5-7 minuites walk and there are many smaller convinience stores around. The apartments are managed by russian speaking people. Our senior contact (Victoria, not sure what was her position, but we were contacting her for any matter) seemed very supportive. We did not like the cleanner/assistant (Cristina) who seemed to be rude and not very polite, but - we met her only couple of times. Both Viktoria and Cristina speak Russian. Overall, the apartment is good combination of price and convinience. The apartment is located in a walking distance (15 min) from Charite - one of the major clinics in Berlin. The good public transportation system makes it well connected to the city, however its locations is not central.

Nice apartment but bad location and awful neighbours
Don't get me wrong, the apartment itself was lovely, clean and very spacious, the beds were comfortable and the shower was good. However, having booked through expedia and this may be their error I thought the apartment was in Mitte which it really was not. Wedding is an ok area, but the apartment is on a street with bookies, kebab shops and tattoo parlours and wasn't quite what we were hoping for in our Berlin experience. The other issue was the terrible neighbours who woke us up with screaming arguments each day at around 4am. The arguments were quite frightening and made us feel uncomfortable and worried for the female and baby next door. This didn't add to us feeling safe in the apartment.Wouldn't stay here again...would say something in Prenzlauer Berg.

Excellent value for money
We were a little concerned about the apartment having read some of the reviews on this site. It wasn't a great start - we arrived dead on 3pm (earliest check in time) to be informed that the rooms weren't quite ready. When we took our luggage into the room it was clear there was some work to do! However, this was largely down to the dreadful state the apartment had been left in by the previous guests. Once cleaned we were really impressed - the apartments (we rented 2) were spotless and the beds were really comfortable. The kitchens were well equipped and the apartments were light and quiet. It wasn't perfect - ironing board but no iron in one apartment and no hairdryer in the other. These felt like minor details.One of our party was taken ill late one night and had to be taken to hospital. With the information in our own guide book proved to be incorrect it was good that we got an answer when we telephoned the number provided in the apartment for emergency information. The area was fine. Convenient and close to the excellent public transport system. Friendly staff in local shop showed us alternatives when items we wanted were out of stock. One word of warning - we booked through an agent and there was no mention of the final cleaning charge which at the time of writing was 30 euros for each apartment.I realise that we all have individual experiences but can honestly say that we would be happy to stay here again. I sometimes wonder what people expect for such a modest amount of money.
