Sunday lunch was superb !
I wanted to book Sunday lunch out with friends and someone suggested here. I'm so glad they did as it was superb! We were welcomed by all the staff we met and the chef in the lakeside restaurant gave us such personal service it was wonderful! It was buffet style for the starter which was all so lovely we could have just stayed with that. However we went on to have a full roast dinner with freshly cooked vegetables. After this we could see a beautiful selection of tempting desserts which could not be refused. Having selected a slice of lemon tart, the chef insisted we tried his chocolate brownies too and preceded to warm them for us and served them with burnt orange ice cream, spiced plum ice cream and off course a huge jug of double cream! Needless to say none of us will need to eat for at least a week! The restaurant was far from full so I only hope that anyone reading this books a table to try for themselves, as food as good as this, cooked and presented with the passion ours was today deserves to be eaten by everyone! A big thank you to all the staff who made our visit memorable, we will be back!

Unbelievable Sunday lunch
Although we did not stay overnight we had a Sunday lunch here that was the best ever, personal help from two chefs of the day , hand made starters and afters , coupled with beautifully cooked meats and vegetables this would beat any London hotel easily , thoroughly recommend we will be back !! ¿¿¿

Perfect Wedding Venue
We got married here 11th May 2013, so just last weekend, and my husband and I, as well as all our family and friends are still all on a high and still talking about it! Most of our guests commented it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to, and one couple agreed it was even better than their own wedding lol! It was a mixture of the gorgeous venue, the efforts of the staff, the wonderful food, and the atmosphere which made our wedding so wonderful. The venue is stunning, picture perfect, well maintained and always clean throughout and well presented. It has had a lot of work done to the grounds recently, which have added to the gorgeous setting. The food is top class, really incredible. All the staff are polite, efficient, curteous and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them. Our biggest thanks goes to the wonderful Georgina who handled everything perfectly and with efforless ease, even the last minute hiccups we threw at her! She completely calmed our nerves (mine, my husbands and my parents!), I really couldn't have asked for anyone better for our wedding.A big thanks also goes to Ash the DJ, who had everyone on their feet dancing all night having the time of their lives. He played the eclectic mix we asked for, but more than that he managed to understand the taste of our guests and played music they all loved.Waking up in the beautiful bridal suite was lovely, as well as going down for the wonderful breakfast spread with our family and friends that also stayed. It really finished off our wedding weekend!A massive thank you to all at Great Hallingbury Manor for what really was one of the best days of our lives.

Perfect place for a wedding!
We got married here on the 26th April 2013 and it was perfect. I don't know where to start with a review, but here goes... Location: For us the location was perfect, being so close to the M11 made it ideal for guests to find! The hotel is near an airport - this is not hidden, you can hear planes but this did not cause a problem at all, for us or guests (ear plugs are provided for light sleepers). The gardens surrounding the hotel are beautiful and with work ongoing at the lake it will soon be an ideal spot for a romantic weekend or stroll. The wider grounds are well maintained so were perfect for wedding photos and a quiet walk/sit.Hotel: The hotel itself was perfect, we have stayed before so knew what to expect. Good rooms, modern, spacious with wet rooms. The bridal suite was perfect with a huge bath plus wet room and plenty of space for getting ready and drinking champagne - more good photo opportunities here! The restaurant and bar areas were lovely, clean, modern, light and comfortable - the comfy sofas around the hotel made ideal spots for people to stop and chat, away from the noise of the disco or bar area. Ideal again. We loved the fact that we practically had the hotel to ourselves - this made the day even more special to us.Staff:Great in every way, from planning the wedding, help and advice the day before to the actual day of the wedding - all questions were answered, people were helpful and very very nice. A personal shout out goes to Georgina for organising everything (especially as we live outside of the UK, Georgina's communication and support was essential), Sam for helping on the day and having a constant smile and Cody and Michael in the restaurant for help setting up, general service and management of the wedding reception. We should also mention Ashley, the in-house DJ. He was fab! Everyone (Groom included) was up dancing all night and he really took into account guest requests and the style of music we liked - even though he had never met us. We couldn't have asked for better music or DJ.Food: Again, perfect. We steered away from the typical wedding breakfast and had a French themed hot buffet - the hotel was great in supporting our personal choices (even sourcing specific wine for us) and the quality, presentation and service of the food was amazing. Even our French friends commented on how good the meals were - so thank you. This is an ideal hotel for all sorts of reasons, we have stayed for a mini break before and with the beautiful setting and design of the hotel it was great, for a wedding it was intimate, personal and relaxed - all at the same time. Thank you to everyone who made it such a great day, we cant wait to celebrate our anniversaries at Great Hallingbury Manor.

Rural Hotel on Stansted's Doorstep
I¿¿¿m always looking for value for money whether is ¿¿5 for a fish and chip supper or ¿¿500 for a weekend break. So, having to go to Edinburgh on business, and not wanting to drive for several hours and then get straight on a plane I looked around for somewhere to stay near Stansted.I¿¿¿m pretty bored with Travel Lodges and the other big chains and fancied somewhere with a nicer outlook than an airport apron or a shopping mall. Great Hallingbury Manor Hotel seemed to fit the bill, a rural setting only ten minutes form the terminals seemed ideal and a look at their rooms on line convinced me to book a room. Moreover, I found they did a nice deal on parking ¿¿¿ making a nice room even more attractive if the added on parking was half that charged in the long-stay carpark at the airport! We arrived to find that the car park was very nearly full as there was a wedding party staying over ready I guess for a weekend ceremony close by. Check-in was smooth and the staff friendly and informative and the first look at our room (fairly recently refurbished I learnt later) gave a very positive impression. Washing away the dust of travel introduced me to the small but well-appointed bathroom¿¿¿ although that is a misnomer as there is no bath but rather a roomy modern shower. Good quality towels and nice toiletries also gave a good impression. In the bedroom itself we found a very large bed¿¿¿ I hate hotels with ¿¿¿double¿¿¿ beds that turn out to be great if neither of you weigh more than 6 stone! This one would accommodate a couple of weightlifters with room to spare. A nice firm mattress too¿¿¿ moreover, a quick call to reception for more pillows was followed less than a minute later by the pillows themselves¿¿¿ such prompt service is a rare thing these days.I did what I always do¿¿¿ unpacked the laptop, plugged in my cellphone and put the kettle on¿¿¿. What is unusual is that I could do this all at once and find a spare socket besides. Not only plenty of power outlets but in the right place an a very serviceable desk and a proper office chair to go with it. Reception gave me the password for the free WiFi and I downloaded my email and got to work. I even had somewhere to charge up my iPad so I could read a Kindle book later!I always take my own tea (Red Bush) with me but had I wished to indulge there was a good selection of teas and coffees to choose from even a couple of large drinking chocolate sachets which we had after supper. What more can I say, the lighting is appropriate, the TV a large flat screen (poor sound quality notwithstanding and overcome by turning on subtitles) and the wardrobe of sensible proportions. Maggie was pleased to find, as she showered before supper, that the hairdryer supplied was both safe and effective.Would we stay again? Absolutely! Next time we fly out of Stansted we will definitely book a room at Great Hallingbury Manor Hotel.
