I felt like a princess
The Intercontinental in Heliopolis is a lovely hotel with superb, smooth services. I was met at the airport by a driver who was courteous, professional, and thoughtful. The car was comfortable and clean and his driving calm and steady in crazy Cairene traffic. As I arrived at the hotel door, the doorman handed me my key and other information and a bellman escorted me to my perfectly clean, well-appointed room. Morning breakfast (varied and generous buffet - but unremarkable) was overlooking the lush garden and gorgeous pool. A hotel car took me to my meetings, figuring out where the address actually was before hand - not always to be taken for granted in Cairo. Over the three days every single member of staff was warm, gracious, seemed genuinely eager to please - drivers, room service, repair man for the air conditioning (an instant, effective, no fuss response), doorman, front desk, waiters, concierge. Each was wonderful. The great tradition of Arab hospitality is alive and well at this hotel - they made me feel like I was the best thing that ever happened to them.Minor downside - room service steak was tough and flavorless on a spoonful of destroyed vegetables - and not cheap. It was made up for the following night by delicious sushi in the Japanese restaurant in the hotel. And the room service person was so nice, who could be annoyed?

Average stay
We looked forward to this hotel but in truth it was a let down after coming in from the heat it's looked beautful but we had to walk to the back of the hotel and go up some steps not good when you have someone with bad legs and bad back the room was average not what you would except for a top class hotel we had prepaid for our dinner on booking and there was a mix up know one knew where we were to eat we had to go back to the front desk 2 times every time we get told where to go when we get to the restaurant they say no not here big mix up We were not happy glade we only stayed one night the only good thing was the shopping centre to get to our room we walked out in the heat to our room?????????

Nice haven
Spent a couple of nights there for work, although I was booked a room in the main hotel I was given a large room in the Residence. The room was lovely and clean, spacious and the free Wi-fi was great although was dropping on and off one night.My room was facing the street over the entrance of the Residence and was quite noisy at night, even with windows and curtains shut. On the last night (when I had to get up at 4.30 for my flight back home) I was kept awake by music/chants for half an hour, quite loud, coming from the street. Not as restful as I had hoped, but good hotel. The advance check-in with welcome at the airport was great and helped us to go through immigration quicker than if we had been on our own and with no fuss.Didnt get to use the pool but the pool area looked so inviting! Same for the nice sitting areas around the pool. Breakfast was plentiful and good service.I would be happy to return to this hotel, but would hope for less noise.

Rooms are ok,
Lower your expectation when it comes to food, three people for 1700 EGP, for average quality food, but location is good since you avoid traffic from / to airport, btw meet and assist service is useless

Luxurious One-Night Getaway in the City, Great Pool
We've been here before as a family. This time we had a one night getaway so our family can swim and use the pool. It was very comfortable. As Platinum Priority Club members, we got an automatic upgrade to a deluxe room, and it was very nice indeed. The quality is amazing. The carpeting, bedding, upholstery, wood, ceramic, marble, design, is very luxurious. We reserved for two kids and two adults and they assured us we have a queen bed with sofa bed. But the sofa bed was too narrow for my 8 and 7 year old so after calling them, they gave us an extra bed. The room was very spacious, so even with extra bed, it was very roomy. The TV system was well done. You can choose your own language and it gave us all the channels in our language so you don't waste time going through all channels. The pool was amazing. It's wide, deep sections, shallow sections, kids' sections with two small water slides. All the guests are friendly and my kids found other kids and played in the pool with them a long time. The hotel is connected to the Citystars Mall, which is the biggest and best mall in Cairo, so we could easily walk there for dinner, which we did. I highly recommend this hotel; and plan to come back many more times for our family's weekend getaways.
