Fulfills its purpose
This is an ideal hotel for someone wanting to stay near the train station (either for a train or transportation to the airport). I would call it a business-style hotel, as opposed to the more personable small hotels or b&b's I stayed in throughout the rest of my Italy trip. The rooms are modern (although the small TV didn't have many options, especially not in English), clean, and even with a window facing the street I did not notice traffic noise. The main down side was that the internet did not work for the first few hours I was there and it seemed to be a hotel-wide issue. We intended to arrive in the evening, immediately sleep, and leave early the next morning for the airport. An unexpected change of plans meant we arrived in the early afternoon and had plenty of time to kill even before dinner. The first reception person was a bit standoffish, which initially left me thinking I would have trouble getting any information on somewhere to eat or transportation to the airport. She also wanted to hold my passport for a while, which no other hotel during my trip through Italy wanted to do (they quickly made a copy or wrote down information and gave it back within seconds). I was told to come back for the passport in 10 minutes, and when I came back 20 minutes later she seemed confused as to why I was back so soon. I asked for my passport (she seemed to be doing nothing but waiting around) and she finally made a copy and gave it back, which took her a whole 5 seconds. A little while later I came back to ask about restaurants and the same woman was like a completely different person. She was very helpful and friendly and I was quite surprised. Another woman also showed up and she was even more helpful. I ended up with a few restaurant recommendations and all the details I needed to get to the airport the next day. Between the now-friendly staff, the good restaurant recommendation, and the fixed internet I ended up with a rather positive experience. The soundproofing to the outside world was great, but the room-to-room soundproofing may need some improvement. At one point during the night I was startled awake by what I thought was someone opening the door to my room. It turns out someone was having issues with their door at the room next to mine and all the noise was clearly audible in my room (and was enough to wake up me and get my heart racing).

Nice, very orange, 3 star not 4`
This is a nice hotel close to the train station. Rooms are large and comfortable with a large bathroom. Everything is VERY orange.......hotel is surrounded by roads so its noisy with the window open. TV has 100+ channels but nothing in English except CNN so be warned. Breakfast is adequate but nothing inspiring - weak coffee, tinned fruit, stale cakes etc. For a 3 star hotel I would be impressed but its rated 4. I would expect a 4 star hotel to have a bar, a fitness room and better breakfast - but at the prices it was good value for money.

Hotel Piemontese
We just came back from a short city break to Italy, we flew into Bergamo and stayed 3 nights in the Hotel Piemontese. The hotel is so central to everything that it made our first time to Italy so easy. We were across the street from the tourist office, the bus station and the railway where we got buses and trains to the lakes and Milan. The hotel itself was totally renovated inside, the room was lovely, bathroom stunning and the bed was so comfortable. Being in the city centre I thought it would be noisy but the windows are fantastic and unless open you cannot hear a thing outside. No noise from other rooms either. Staff were friendly and polite and were very helpful. Breakfast was typical continental but as much as you wanted and I loved our stay there, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a really nice hotel.

Lovely hotel right next to the train station
The Piemontese staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The room was nice, and the free wifi worked perfectly. The hotel is a 20 minute walk from the Citt¿¿ Alta tram, but it's a nice walk and the hotel's proximity to the station is really convenient, if you're headed for Milan or other railway destinations. I can definitely recommend it.

Good base but...
I cant fault the staff here, they were lovely. Rooms were comfortable but nothing exceptional. If you are looking for a base and require zero wandering around Bergamo, it is great for this. If you just need a base for an early morning flight, I would recommend it. If not be a bit more adventurous and stay in the citta alta, it really is worth paying extra. At night time this is quite dead and there is no ambiance. (There is McDonalds if you are starving, accross the road).I was disappointed with the breakfast. The dining room is like a (to quote my companion) "our canteen at work". Nothing wrong with it just a bit clinical looking. However there is a good lively pub not to far away but its not immediately obvious. (Check out my other review of the Ritual bar.)
