Enjoyable, but could have been better
I stayed here for three days with my wife, and we were incredibly lucky to get a first floor room in the manor with stunning views down the tree lined avenue to the pond and across to (I presume) the White Horse of Westbury in the distance. A definite 'wow factor' with the room and view though, disappointingly, the double bed was actually two singles put together and the sheets were the type you 'slide round' causing trouble sleeping. The room and, indeed, hotel were tastefully decked out in cream, moss green, chocolate brown and aubergine.The staff were very pleasant and helpful, and the breakfast and its location were superb, though we encountered two other problems, Firstly, having been told on Friday the impressive upper floor pool and spa beds closed at 10 pm, we were disappointed to go in at 7.30 on Saturday and be told by an attendant while in the spa beds they close at 8 pm at weekends. Secondly, we had the worst hotel meal ever - the Eden Brasserie offers no starters or side vegetables, we ordered steak and chips (the latter weren't even cooked in the middle), two desserts, a lager and a water and were charged ¿¿63. We ate elsewhere afterwards as a result. The hotel's Georgian Room restaurant is probably much better, but we were put off by the prices and food we suffered at the Eden. A real shame.

A great stay in a great location
Combe Grove Manor Hotel is a beautiful hotel in an amazing location. However, the highlight of the stay for us was the friendliness and welcoming nature of the staff. We had a great stay and look forward to returning.

Dinner was a shambles
We stayed here with 2 relatives for one night having bought Travelzoo vouchers.The Receptionist was very friendly and explained where everything was.We had adjacent rooms in the lodges with a private patio which was great. The room had 2 double beds, a small sitting area and a bathroom. It was all clean but a bit dated, however the complimentary bottle of wine was good.Anyway, we were fine and went for dinner with high expectations, and this is where it all went pear-shaped. My starter was sliced duck (4 tiny slithers which were mostly fat) and bits of salad and fruit. It was awful and four forkfuls finished it off. We then had a 45 minute wait for our main courses which were dreadful. The sea bass was miniscule and rubbery, the pork was extremely tough and unpleasant and although my lamb was tasty the potatoes were hard. The desserts were fine.The maitre d was frantically apologising to everyone and offered us all a glass of champagne to help us get through the long wait, he was wonderful,as were the waitressess.We all felt so sorry for them but thr kitchen clearly needs a shake up.Breakfast was average.

Birthday treat
I was booked this hotel through a deal from Travelzoo for my Birthday. I can only say wonderful things about my stay. We were up graded to a suite with a magnificient view and with everything we could wish for . The meal in the restaurant was really good quality and the staff very attentive.Having use of the spa facilities was excellent and I would highly recommend this hotel. Beautiful peaceful surroundings . This is the 3rd visit to this hotel, but the first stay, I will definately be coming back. Excellent value. Thank you

Not a 4 Star experience
We got a really good deal at this hotel through Travelzoo for Easter Sunday at short notice, paying ¿¿119 for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast including a Bottle of wine. Reception was efficient but strangely located in a small hallway at the entrance to the main building of the hotel. Our room was in the annex, it was adequate but a little tired and in need of TLC. We used the pool and the sauna which were both individually good but the saunas were single sex being located in the ladies and gents respective changing rooms and the pool was quite a trek up some stair and along a passage way. Our Dinner could only be described as average; had we paid the advertised ¿¿37.50 per head for 3 courses I would have been most disappointed. Moreover, my wife declined a sweet and we shared my cheese and biscuits and we were still charged the 'extra' for cheese. Our bed was comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast in the morning was a mixture of self service with a served fried breakfast. Once again, it was adequate rather than good. Overall, for the price we could not complain; however, at full price this hotel does not meet the standards I would expect of a 4star establishment.
