We stayed at this hotel as part of our Trafalgar tour of Europe. We seemed to get lucky with our experience and our good room, but other travelers on our tour had very bad experiences (including bed bugs taking over their room).It is not located in the heart of Rome, but with our guided tour, this did not matter to us.I have also seen that Trafalgar no longer uses this hotel on their tours, which I think shows that it is not a high-quality place to stay.

The room facilities in this hotel are of a good standard - no complaints there. However, we had major problems with the restaurant staff. We came down to the bar at around 6.30pm and were told we had to wait until 7.30 to order - we weren't even allowed to look at a menu until the stroke of 7.30, which we found unusual. So, we decided to order drinks - that took 30 minutes, and they each cost ¿¿¿10. Such a rip off! When we finally got around to ordering dinner, the waiter sauntered out on his own time when he felt like taking our dinner order. I ordered the roast chicken, my girlfriend ordered the fettuccine and our friend ordered the shrimp stew. 20 minutes later another group came in and ordered. 10 minutes after they had ordered, they were presented with their food and we were given no explanation of where our orders were, other than that we were told we must be patient (almost an hour and a half after we first came down to order). When our food FINALLY came, they were the most disgusting looking dishes I have ever seen. My roast CDs,n resembled something like road kill, with a few fries; my girlfriends fettuccine looked like it had been vomited onto the plate by the chef; and the shrimp stew was not a shrimp stew, but a few half frozen prawns chucked onto a plate. When we asked the waiter why we had received prawns instead of shrimp, he said they had run out of shrimp so they die dead to give my friend prawns. He then laid the blame on us for not knowing that they had run out. When we asked him to take it back he shouted at us and said "bye bye! Bye bye!" and told us to leave. He kept yelling and yelling and brought my girlfriend to tears in front of all the other guests, which infuriated me to no end. To the hotel manager's credit, he was absolutely livid. He stormed into the kitchen and had a few stern words to the waiter and offered us free food and drink for the rest of our stay, but we declined. I have never had such disgusting service anywhere in the word. I understand this is has been a reoccurring problem for this hotel. They really need to sort this out.

Too far out of town with hopeless transport connections and no shuttle service to anywhere. Used for multiple tour companies and service felt like they didn't care about anyone. Unbelievably BAD sewage smell in the parking and lobby area. Hotel is in a hollow behind multi level housing development. Tragic

The first trick is to get to this hotel from the airport; there wasn't a shuttle. Getting directions was next to impossible and we ended up on the wrong bus that took us downtown to where we hired a taxi (an illegal taxi it turned out) to get us to our hotel and then he took the long route and charged us too much. We found out later that by emailing the hotel at least three days before your arrival date they can arrange to have a van meet you at the airport and it will cost you about 40 or 50 euros - this would have been a good deal timewise and financially had we known about it.Once at the hotel, later in the evening and after a two hour sojourn to get there, the lady working at the desk spoke little English - of course, it is Italia afterall. So finding our reservation was difficult for her and then we were not given the room we had requested with two beds so we had to go back to the desk and try again. So we were sent to a room without a balcony and back we went again to the front desk. She was very patient with us while we tried to explain our reservation to her. Finally we landed up on the sixth floor. You do not want to be on the sixth floor! The toilet was plugged, the shower had no pressure, the hallway carpet was rotten and stained, the restaurant is right over your head so you will hear alot of ruckus up there, let's not talk about the bed or the linens = all over not good; however, when we came back two weeks later we were put into a room on the second floor and oh what a difference remodeling makes! We had a very spacious room with two beds and a great balcony and a wonderful bathroom.Location is great, countryesque and peaceful and away from all the hustle and bustle that is so wonderful in Rome.. and once you learn the bus and metro system you will be fine. I do not recommend anyone drive in Italy unless you are Italian or have Andretti's racing ability... and take great care crossing the roads! I recommend you buy a Roma Pass for 30 Euros and you will ride their transportation for free for three days plus get free or discounted entry into many of the local attractions. Shopping and Food: The bus stop is only a couple blocks down residential streets. Standing at the bus stop, turn around with your back to the street, and you will find a hidden mall behind those shops down the road. There are a couple restaurants around the hotel, nothing to sing about, and the hotel restaurant food was very poor quality. I would recommend you get down to the restaurant Ciao at the train station and have a good meal for a fair price (keep your receipt as you will need it to use their toilet). You will find in Italia the restaurants may charge a seating fee which means if you take it away it will cost less. Check the menus before you enter - there is a huge price difference from place to place even just a few doors apart! And yes, they do put weiners on pizza! This hotel did not have a spa or swimming pool, the bar closes early, and the lobby does not really have a gathering area for folks to introduce themselves and chat (very useful for gaining insider tips on travel adventures). The staff are not overly friendly but be patient and draw pictures... they will help you. All in all, I did come back and stay again at the end of my journey and that was a good choice. After being in Italia for a couple weeks I came to realize finding a pool at any hotel was rare. And this place offered a really good relax just sitting on the balcony. Or an easy quick jaunt into the heart of the city for entertainment, food and adventure!

Trafalgar used this hotel for our trip to Italy. I stayed there 3 nights, bad choice. If you go there take a disposable mask for fumes (the smell of septic tank fumes is awful) . The worse customer service. Most of the staff are negative and arrogant, They really make you to fill NOT WELCOME . The rooms are clean and the breakfast not to bad. Restaurant prices very high, Not close to any shopping center or town. Prepare to pay E30.00-E32.00 for transportation. It's about 30 0r 35 minutes from FCO airport depend of traffic and 25 or 30 from Vatican City about same price for taxi. Bad internet signal.
