Venice on the cheap
We booked a 3 night / 4 day trip to Venice staying at the Ambasciatori for ¿¿179 each on Groupon. I didn't want to pay the inflated prices in Venice and was prepared for a trek into Venice each day. The hotel itself is in a residential area, that is not much to look at and nothing to do in an evening, however with frequent buses to Venice across the road, that didn't really matter! the 4L runs every 15 minutes or so and takes about 10 mins to get into Pizzale Roma. It is worth noting that if the bus that turns up is really packed, it is sometimes worth waiting for the next bus as there is normally another one along quick quickly after which is much emptier. It is a case of 'every man for himself' when getting the bus - there are no queues or etiquette, so be prepared to stand your ground and push your way on if necessary..With regards the hotel, we arrived early (10am) and weren't able to check in till 2pm, which is fair enough - we had somewhere to store our bag while we went to explore venice..! Our room (211) was comfortable and clean, although no tea or coffee making facilities which was a bit sad and it was 2 single beds pushed together, however we did have a fairly good nights sleep. I would advise you to put the 'do not disturb' sign on the door if you would like a lie-in.. 2 mornings in a row we had housekeeping knocking at 8.30 - 9am... Breakfast was ok - scrambled egg, ham, salami and cheese as well as yogurt, cereal etc, nothing special but enough to fill you up till lunch. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel as we ate in Venice every night, but the menu looked nice enough. All in all the hotel is handy for travelling in and out of venice - we would go in and explore during the day, head back to the hotel for a shower and change, then head back for a couple of hours in the evening. I think that the bus service runs till about 1am during the week, with the service swapping over from the 4L to 4 at night.. So if you want a reasonable hotel within easy commute to Venice, you can't go wrong with the Ambasciatori - if you are expecting to be able to dine out in the local area i would look elsewhere.

Pleasant experience, excellent location
We stayed as a couple at Hotel Ambasciatori for three nights, and it was a very pleasant experience. The hotel is at a great location, if you don't want to wake up in the hassle of Venice' main island. The room on the 6th floor was excellent - all new and modern furniture, small LCD TV with quality cable etc. Bathroom was in the same great condition, all around very clean and new. The main door can use a bit more audio isolation, since the hotel gets very busy eraly in the morning and we got up around 09h. Sleep was good and quiet.Breakfast was fresh and tasty, but not of high variety. There were different kinds of cerials every day, GREAT free coffee, cheese and salami, eggs and bacon. Nothing more, nothing less. The bus stop for Venice is right opposite the hotel, and you are there in 15 mins. The bus (No. 4L) is regular, every 10 mins with a digital timer at the station. The personnell was polite and efficient, also kindly helping us with the timetable for the bus to the airport on our way back.All-in-all, we really enjoyed our stay and recommend it.

Ambasciatori Hotel
We also booked our trip through groupon (which I would advise against as it was a Ryan Air flight!!)The hotel was nice and ideally located for travelling into Venice. The local area was a bit rough and not very inviting at night! We did not find much to do or any local bars so went into venice each day.The bus into Venice was really cheap and easy to catch right outside the hotel (bus 4L). The room was OK but does not look like the pictures on the website. It was a standard, small double room, with a nice shower room (room 203). But the beds were pushed together to make a double and was really really uncomfortable. The decor was old fashioned but clean and well kept. The resturant is over priced for the portion size and quality of food.Other than that, the hotel was very nice and we enjoyed our stay.

Hotel could do with some modernisation like its sister hotel next door!
We were supposed to be staying at the Delfino Hotel which is the sister hotel to this one and next door. Unfortunately they didn't have our booking details and the hotel was full so they moved us next door to the Ambasciatori. A more traditional looking hotel that I would say could do with modernisation. Our family room for 3 was quite small, clean but the biggest disappointment was the bathroom and in particular the bath/shower, which was so small you had to stand sidewards to have shower and hardly any room to move around without knocking your elbows on something - I am a petite lady and only 5ft 3ins - so my poor Dad whose in his 70's REALLY struggled to get in and out of the bath. The area seemed a bit "rough" around the hotel with not alot of places to choose for eating in the evening (although the best ice cream shop just 2 minutes away!) That said price wise it was hugely cheaper to eat in Mestre instead of eating in Venice itself. A short bus ride away to Venice, the bus stop is across the road directly in front of the hotel, which makes life so much easier. One tip - always remember Italian's never queue - if you want to get on the bus you have to do as they do and push your way onto the bus. Something that doesn't come naturally I know, but if you don't you could wait a long time!! Also if you use pedestrian crossings you have to get brave and just walk out in the road, if you wait at the side of the road they will not stop, it's only once you are crossing in the road they will stop!! Breakfast was lacking, with not a huge amount of choice and one night we ate in the restaurant and again I would say there are much better places to eat than in the restaurant at the hotel. All in all a clean hotel, fit for the purpose of visitng Venice but I wouldn't want to stay longer than a couple of nights.

Good location, pleasant stay.
We booked our trip through Groupon, & were not disappointed- we had a fantastic time. Mestre is a nice place to stay, just a short distance from Venice. We visited Mestre town centre a couple of times, and discovered the best (& cheapest!) pizza restaurant (Al Cavallino) & ice-cream bar (Al Duca Pasticceria Gelateria) of our entire trip! The hotel is ideally situated for easy travel into Venice, with a bus stop just across the road, & tickets available at the hotel reception. The buses run every 10 minutes, and it is approximately a 10 minute ride into Venice. The room was clean & spacious, with a fridge, a safe & free wifi in the room. The breakfast buffet was nice, and we found the staff to be generally helpful with any questions/requests we had.I would definitely reccommend staying in Mestre on a trip to Venice, because of the relaxed location and value for money... The hotel met our expectations, & I would happily stay here again.
