Marriott by Travelodge
Its not really in Maida Vale (W9 postcode), its actually in Kilburn (NW6), so why not be honest and say thats where it is; I am a platinum rewards member, but the room was as tiny as everyone elses. The excutive lounge is hidden on the 7th floor with no sign on the door, and the food offerings were identical every night (not bad salads though). Marriott bed as good as ever, but the main criticism is the lack of shaver point in the bathroom. Isnt this a standard feature of every hotel bathroom in the world? But the big cheek of it is that the hotel tries to sell you adapters for ¿¿5 each - unbelievable! Other points to note, 10min walk to Kilburn Park station (not maida vale, note), the gym is actually a public health club free to guests, so is full of bouncers warming up for their night shift. In summary, its a travelodge with marriott badge, but ok for tourists and cheap business people.

Does the job with a bit of charm
Stayed here for one night to attend a wedding. Reception staff welcoming and helpful. We arrived a bit before the check-in time and the receptionist regretted that all she could offer us then was a queen size room. We were in a rush and accepted but this was fine - the room was bright, very clean and certainly big enough. We slept well after we got back from the reception. Everything in the room worked and I'd happily stay there again. The concierge got us a taxi promptly and courteously. A couple of pointers - on-street parking in legal areas is free at weekends. This was a Godsend. Their breakfasts are outrageously expensive - a complete rip-off - so bring your own. Internet access is also expensive - BT's public WiFi at ¿¿5 a day is much cheaper, or, if you have a 3G-enabled tablet, use that. Shop around for the best price. I managed to get the room for ¿¿118 (cheap for this part of London), instead of the general rate of ¿¿199 offered by most sites and the hotel itself. Oh, and you get access to a good pool and gym next door. If I stay again, I plan to take advantage of that.

Convenient, pleasant, courteous
Just stayed here for a few days on a business trip. It's very convenient for international travelers as the hotel is very close to Paddington Station (short taxi ride) OR you could hop on Underground (London's subway system) at Paddington to the nearby Kilburn Park station (approximately 5min walk to hotel). On my arrival, I took the Heathrow Express to Paddington, and then taxi to hotel. On departure, I walked to Kilburn Park station to get back to Paddington for return to Heathrow. Both were easy.Being close to Kilburn Park station, made it easy to get around London. The hotel itself is good. Rooms are larger than most European hotels, probably because it is a Marriott versus typical European brand chain.Staff was very friendly, courteous and willing to help without solicitation (they would offer). If you pay for the Executive Floor or are Marriott Platinum/Gold, the lounge is small but quaint. Good selection of beverages and a real coffee/latte machine versus 'drip' coffee. The one negative about the lounge has nothing to do with Marriott, but the boorish behavior by some of the guests visiting the lounge, which unfortunately seems to be more common throughout the world nowadays. The nearby neighborhood restaurant choices are subpar IMO. Ate at several and found them to be below average in terms of quality. Nothing dangerous or risky, but, just nothing that would draw me to return to any of the restaurants.I would recommend the Maida Vale for trips to London and would definitely return...

Good value and convenient!
We stayed at this hotel over the weekend and found it convenient with nice and clean rooms. Servicing of room after normal hours was appreciated as we had a couple of lie ins! Staff were helpful and friendly. We didn't eat or use any services so this is a short review - but would recommend it for convenience when staying in London.

Good Hotel, fair priced for the location and service
Although Maida Vale is a bit off the szene, it is a quick taxi drive from Paddington (5min) and to Kings Cross it is also pretty quick (5min).I had a room on the 2nd floor to the back side of the hotel, which was clean and relatively large for other ones I had in London so far. Frequent Marriott users can enjoy the Executive Level and Executive Lounge in the Top Floors. Try to not get a room towards the street, as it could be quite loud. Both the Italian Restaurant inside (Fire heated Pizza Oven) and the Snack Bar are good and pricing is fair. Breakfast has the usual Marriott Standard. The Concierge is helpful and all staff seemed to friendly and service oriented.Only negative comment I have is on the Taxi availability:- In the evening it is not really frequently passed and even in the morning you might have to wait 10-15min for one.- There are 3 Taxi parking slots in front of the Hotel, but rather than actual taxis waiting there, they are just parked and off for service. That is clearly better at other Marriott places.- Of course you can get a pre-ordered private taxi through the Concierge I am not a special friend of them as the ones I had so far are not really the best street experts and rather use long slopes (no matter what time of day)Recommendation: Get the "Hailo" App, where you can actually book a taxi and comfortably wait in the lobby. Worked perfectly on the last day.
